I always liked the names from some of the forgotten Cold War-era jet fighters:

Fury (F-1)
Banshee(F-2)
Demon (F-3)
Crusader (F-8)
Tiger (F-11)
Black Widow (YF-23)

The UAV/UCAV types have good names too - Predator, Reaper, etc.

Bombers: Marauder, Devastator, Destroyer.

Boeing's Bird of Prey (intentionally) sounds like something out of Star Trek, but it's still an awesome name - and since "raptor" means "bird of prey", the latter may be a better choice, since Lamborghini already has its F-22-inspired Reverton.

Big blocks and small blocks are entirely different configurations even though some of the displacements match up.

The 400 ci smallblock has siamesed bores, so it's even different than the rest of the smallblocks. basically it's overall dimensions are the same as other sb's though, they share every other part. You can build one up to 434 ci if you really want to (and I do) so just going off displacements alone you can't really differentiate SB and BB.

how about "The more powerful than Superman, Batman, Spiderman and the Incredible Hulk put together" ???

if you're talking about the F-22, yes Lockheed called it that initially and for the most part only internally. the point is moot now that they officially designated the newer F-35 as "Lightning II".

My wife thinks they look like sharks.

With the "shark fin" antenna, and the shark grin front fascia, I would tend to agree.

Call it the C-5 Shark

It's a nice evolution from the C-4 Catfish

havoc
1419, from Anglo-Fr. havok in phrase crier havok "cry havoc" (1385), a signal to soldiers to seize plunder, from O.Fr. havot "plundering, devastation" (fr. avoir), from a Gmc. source (see hawk (n.)), or from L. habere "to have, possess." General sense of "devastation" first recorded c.1480.

Agreed? Thanks =D

Good thing you mentioned the F4U Corsair and not the "SLUF" A-7 Corsair. The Camaro is definitely not a short little ugly f*****.

Other good aircraft nicknames:

F6F Hellcat
F9F Panther
F-4 Phantom
F-5 Freedomfighter / Tiger II
F-117 Nighthawk
XF-103 Thunderwarrior
XF-108 Rapier
S-3 Viking
XB-70 Valkyrie
SR-71 Blackbird also "Habu"
U-2 Dragonlady
GAU-8 Avenger (A-10 gatling gun)

The list goes on and on.
