Because if they were suddenly discontinued to where they only had a one model year run, they would be worth a fortune.

I sat in a red Challenger R/T today and honestly fell in love with it.

However, the price is quite high considering I can have a better-equipped 2SS for the same price as the 34k (loaded) Chally R/T.

Didn't say it'd be worth something initially; although, it would be rare to see one on the road.

That's correct. Businesses regularly negotiate with competitors about senseless business decisions, then ask the Treasury for funds as a prank on the government. They got the Treasury good with this one!

This is an issue of priorities. The owners of Chrysler have no intention of being in the car business, and the big wigs at GM regularly discuss business relationships with other companies. GM does this to continue improving products and expanding its market; Chrysler does this because it has to find a new home if it is to be sold, chopped, or otherwise changed by the market. GM sees some good products in Chrysler. This acquisition might not be so bad.

The death of Chrysler doesn't work out as well for the US auto industry.

However, the death of GM would be even worse for the US auto industry. And Canada's. And our economy's.

Actually, Buick made 547 copies of the GNX.

The term hotcakes applies to no aspect of the Challenger. Chrysler moved just over 2300 units in September. I wouldn't be surprised if production is axed before the end of this calender year.

My town must be the exception then, because every Challenger that has been put up for sale at the local Dodge dealership is usually gone before the day is out.

They're probably factory orders. I drive by our city's largests Chrysler dealer everyday and they're not selling very many. It's too bad because they're kinda cool looking (even though they are rather large).

First, Mullaly is a complete dunce. Ford is no better off than the other two with that kind of "leadership". Secondly, a wipe of all the GM upper management would also include Bob Lutz. He has been a hero to the consumer. GM would have died long ago without him.
