Yes the clutch, but more specific, the redesigned pressure plate.

Well after trying for the last 2 months I'm giving up on working with my dealership. Today I was asked to take one of the techs out for a ride to try and reproduce my sticking clutch. It would not stick, at all. The tech then informed me that after talking with GM, they were told not to do any warranty work for my clutch issue unless I can prove there is a problem.

I'm about to say screw it and put in an aftermarket clutch, take off my extended warranty, give the dealership the bird, then start to mod the hell out of my car.

Once its fully broke in yea i will definitely hammer it! I got a line lock for a reason hehe!

Well if you can believe it i put 117 miles on my car in one day!!!! I drove 40 mins to the dealer to pick it up first thing this morning before work. When i got off work i went to a friends shop to put my new hurst shifter bushings in! the other bushings got worn out and hurst sent me new ones. then i went to a friends house and we went cruisin.

Well i didnt get home til 1 a.m. so sorry for the late posting. Im can tell you that so far, the car feels better than it ever did even from the first time i got in the car at the dealer.

1st-- My clutch has one engagement point and is firm now! from day to day it could change from spongyness, to engaging 1 inch from the floor board, to engaging 2 inches from fully released! I dont know about yall but when i used to take off normally, i release the clutch and it starts engaging then apply throttle, release consistent and then another slight hesitation before complete release. If i didnt it would jerk the car around. NOW it feels like it almost has an aftermarket clutch in it! a lil exaggerating i know but that is how much i feel like it is better than before.

2nd-- Zero notchiness now in any gear! Smooth shifting at a stop or driving.

3rd-- They put GMs new designed pressure plate in! pt# 24255748
. The service manager contacted gm to make sure he ordered the new designed plate!
4th-- they put a new clutch in it. they said it looked fine and didnt need to but the manager hooked me up anyway!
5th --I dont know if they put the new throw out bearing in or not! I was in a rush and couldnt get the full service sheet with all the parts but he is supposed to be emailing it to me.

I will put a few more miles on it after work tomorrow then i will do a few launches. After doing a burnout then launching, It was guaranteed that the clutch would stick on the 3rd if not at least the 4th time of burning out then launching. I know this bc i street race every thurs or sat and if not that i make a trip to the track on friday! So tomorrow will hopefully tell the tale! I can tell you i would guess 99.9 percent that it wont stick! i could always tell when my clutch would consider wanting to stick even before i launched bc i got used to how it felt. It would become kinda spongy feeling when pushing the clutch.
Tomorrow im also going to do another flush with GM super dot 4 brake fluid. thats what i had in it and it helped not stick on the first or second launch as often!! Im pretty sure they put stock dot 3 in it to top it off after reinstalling everything. I will also be putting in the line lock and should be done by the weekend. Tomorrow im going to the races so im gonna try and at least get some wiring done and friday i got plans. so by sunday i should have be able to stick it even harder to test this new setup even more!

To they guy with dealer giving you problems, Call gm 1 800 222 1020 and tell them how the dealer is screwing you. they KNOW about the problem and that is y they came out with the new plate! The dealer just thinks they can dick u around bc there isnt an actual recall yet which i dont think their will be they will just possibly start extending clutch warranties or something. they would lose too much money broadcasting it as a recall and EVERYONE getting new clutches and plates (JUST MY OPINION)! and you cant go to there computer and pull up the info to prove it to them. Tell GM everything and the service guys names so they can do something about it. Then say u dont want to go back to that service dept and if they can contact another dealer to work on your car. BUT BE NICE about it! dont call starting up a storm, just tell them the situation with your car and you know that the pressure plate problem has been acknowledged and that you are very upset with how they treat their customers.

New update tomorrow! might be late again tho bc i plan on cruisin and then going to the street races! BUT Im loving this new setup so far!

Hopefully this fixes out issues!!

Mine is still scheduled to be ready tomorrow. I got this picture from my service guy yesterday afternoon:

Looks like the exhaust has, or is, burned some rubber. It looks like the drive shaft to me, but I'll guess I'll have to investigate. They won't do anything since the exhaust is aftermarket.

To me it looks more like friction. The exhaust could be moving and hitting the driveshaft. I've heard of some of the 3" systems having some type of clearance issue. What kind of exhaust do you have?

Be sure to let us know what you find out.

Yes, it's a 3" Zoomer's exhaust...I'll see what I can do about it :(

thanks

I called the 800-222-1020 to report my clutch problem (sticking to the floor) this morning and asked if there where any problems with/and a new clutch upgrade - the operator put me on hold for awhile and came back and said she found no problems reported. She told me to go to the dealer. I know there has been complaints specially after Camaro5Fest.

Does anyone know if GM is using the new pressure plate in newly built cars or just using them as replacement?

Mine was built April 7 and I'm not the greatest stick shift driver and clutch issues are top on my list of things that I'm worried about messing up on this car. Actually, it's about the only thing I'm worried about messing up.
