Being smack dab in the middle, I'll be there regardless. A change in scenery would be nice, but not necessary, just hate to leave out all the west coasters though. . .

Glad its not my decision to make

Agreed. If you have the national event there (especially Topeka) it is within a 2 day drive for 99% of C5 members. Everyone could plan for it well in advance. If there were to be additional events, they would be regional and would more than likely not have the support from GM. They could be great events, but they will have regional attendance. It'll all work out.

I'm from the west and voted Central....Its most likely fairest choice, but if its a war between the west and east i will gladly change my vote. I wonder how many East siders voted for the Central to be fair. I know some did but .....

Texas: Meh, maybe Houston site has promise

If I had my druthers it would be in Georgia again and make that a home. See you next year! Distance depending of course
this is a joke, right?

that's a pretty lame excuse...

I would agree that Central would be the fairest overall, but the only chance I have to go is if it is close to home so that would be somewhere in the Northeast for me so I gotta lobby for East (Northeast to be exact)

CENTRAL

[QUOTE=Actually, if we wanted to do a valid poll the "Central" option should have been there from the start, a map showing where the dividing line between the three choices were would have been present, and a "second" choice should have been offered. If that had happened I think it would show that if people couldn't have it "nearest" to them, they would have picked a central location second, which would be the most telling if we are talking about an on-going national event. That's just my $.02 though.

[/QUOTE]
Best point yet ...the people that originally voted did not have central to pick from. I waited and when i looked again I saw central and picked it. One week after camaro5fest there was a Stillen meet that only had 7 weeks of preparation .....126 camaros showed up. West can put up numbers quickly, but i feel the central location would be best. To be honest there should be a poll for locations, SPECIFIC locations with what they have to offer, and then a vote should be made.

WHAT ABOUT TEXAS?! We gotta have something central! It's the only way I'll be able to go. I vote Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth.

I like the idea of 3 events.
Valdosta - east coast - April
Gateway - National - June / July
Firebird - west coast - Sept. / Oct.
Could pick or choose or be all out and attend all 3!
I bought my car to drive it, and I know most on this site would agree. Another idea would be have all 3 sites set for the same week! No one would feel left out. Just a thought. I'm just waiting so I can go ahead and book my room....lol

Everyone would love that, of course. If it were held in SC, as far as my personal sacrifices, it would be minimal. This is like a Bizzaro World Congress. Instead of saying "not in my backyard", everyone would LOVE it in their own backyard. But what is the chance of getting the most participation? If the average distances were roughly the same for everyone. Some people's limits are different than others. Kinda like the tagline in the "SAW" movie series "How much would you sacrifice to get to C5F2?" I'm sure that more folks would rather drive a couple of days than all week to attend an event. If you have to spend more time driving to/from the event than the event itself, you'll lose out on a lot of people. I guess I'm looking at it from a big picture view than "what's the best just for me".

It should be about the cars and friendships and the extended family. Like a family reunion thing. I'm under the impression (correct me if I'm wrong) that member participation by coming to the event is more important than location.

It's tough to do these things as you can never please everyone. Someone mentioned Bowling Green, KY. That's not a horrible choice as the Corvette museum used to host the F-body gatherings for a number of years. But I'm not suggesting that's what we do, but maybe look for something similar.

Centrally located folks probably don't have much of an issue if it was held in Oklahoma or in Georgia, the distance is similar. But east/west coasters would be severly affected the further east or west it was held. Some people don't care.

I have no control over things such as this. If they want to continue in in the same spot, so be it. It's not a bad choice. But I'm sure that members further west would continue to feel excluded due to whatever reasons they couldn't attend, with the main one being distance.

I for one wouldn't even think about driving 3K miles or more one way. there would be no way I could take that much time off work. I'd spend two or three days just driving alone which would be horrible. plus, I think it's safe to assume the general masses are on the east coast anyway.

so please chime in. cast your vote. east or west for Camaro5fest 2011.
Just courious with 474 votes cast east would be the winners but west & central combinded would make a case for moving it to a more central location. Fair for all.
