realistic hp with s/c daily driver
I tried searching the forum on this but found a boat load of threads and thought this would be easier.
![]() Question: I plan on getting a s/c in a year or so and am wondering...whats a realistic hp rating on a s/c with 91 octane gas thats a daily driver?...here in california, 91 is as good as it gets and i dont particularly want to mess with meth or nitrous. I just want a clean cut f/i. Any ideas? ![]() Update: ls3 with CAI intake-borla exhaust installed Last edited by 2ss-booya; 04-29-2010 at 12:06 AM. |

It depends on what other mods that you have.. I have a Maggie, L/T headers, high flow cats, ADM Cold Air Intake and a Dyno tune and I have 542 RWHP. By the way, I have an M6

Its really up to you. We've built cars that make over 1000rwhp that you can essentially start up and drive every day if you wanted but it comes down to how much power do you really want in a daily driver? I say do a supercharger of your choice and a camshaft, make 600+rwhp and just have fun with it. Plenty safe for the LS3 and you can run it on junk gas all day long.

I have a procharger p1 bolt on kit. Check my sig for the numbers. I get 26.8 mpg on the freeway cruising at 67mph...
It's as silent as a stock camaro too, so no one is the wiser and cops don't have any reason to hassle me. I live near San Francisco so I have to worry about smog as well. |

475 whp. maybe 500 with your other mods, if you keep it safe and tame.

you need to worry about fuel delivery if you plan on having around 530+ hp. it starts to drop off around there. I am at 480 rwhp. I wont put on a supercharger till i found a solution

I am over 600rwhp and have not had any fuel issues... but I bet it is RIGHT at the ceiling for being able to say that.

right at about 600 rwhp here ... no problems and is my Daily Driver. I got between 24 and 26 mpg on the C5 Fest trip to boot
.... BTW .. if you upgrade fuel you can even go higher and still be safe ..... (Which I think I'm about ready to do).Crowley

Kyle has a nice car, great build and no problem as a daily driver. I as well drive mine everyday and have over 26,000 miles since September 2009.

damn this is enticing lol...maybe ill get a package before the end of the year ;-)...what about mileage around town?...(25 mpg fwy is fine) obviously there is some decrease right?...
Also..some people on the forum were saying that one should upgrade the suspension as well?...is this true? I'm probably interested in somewhere between 480-600rwhp and looking for long term driveability, looks good under the hood..basically something thats not a pain in the a$$
