My College is cramped for parking and my HHR which is loaded with all options, nothing special at all and arguably ugly, but its still shiny and decently new, gets dinged by jealous people in crappy cars all the time.

this thread is funny because when i take my vette somewhere i always park way out away from everyone and one day i came out of the mall and saw that there was a new Camaro parked next to my C6. I wish i had pictures to back this up, i don't, but i thought it was very cool. Someday hopefully i will have a new Camaro parked in the garage next to the vette.

I'm willing to bet that a huge majority of door dings, are caused by carelessness and by accident. I highly doubt it is "jealousy"

Think about everyone you know half way decent.

Family, Friends of Family, School members, co workers, ex co-workers. Friends, Friends of friends. Past/present teachers/ professors. Now you probably have 100+ people you can list fairly easily. Or at least put a face and a memory together.

Now...How many of those people do you think would ever maliciously damage someone's car without provocation based purely off of jealously? I'm willing to say probably none-- but no more than 1 or 2 of those people.


I know, I know, bad people roam the earth. People get robbed, killed raped, property vandalized etc... But this isn't a significant portion of the population that are committing these crimes.


Cliff notes: If you have a door ding--- 99 to 1 (gut statistic) chances are it was an accident or carelessness. Not malicious jealousy.

if you ask me the vette parking next to the camaro was a sign of respect. i think it was cool. you know he respects his car as much as you repsect yours

As far as Constructive.. It doesn't get more constructive then discussing a popular pet peeve and how to possibly avoid damage to your beloved car.
I not only critiqued it but I offered other options, and followed it up with saying you can do as you wish.

I see the Camaro is utilizing my #2 way of properly parking and reducing the risk of door dings.

2. Park Far away beside a median.. Reducing the risk from #1. by 50%
