Thats exactly how it works .

Its like saying 2+2=4 but 4-2=2 is wrong , its the same thing .

BTW dyno's measure TQ + rpm and cauclates HP from that .

HP = Torque x RPM ÷ 5252.....

correct, if it doesnt work both ways then its wrong. formulas are formulas and they can go either way.

PEAK torque & hp, always occur at different RPM's so you need to do the formula twice!

No you don't. HP is calculated from torque. See below. This is the dyno graph off my friend's Paxtoned LS3 C6. Note where the lines cross.

This is his girlfriend's C6. Same setup plus headers and a little larger pulley.

And so on and so forth. Dyno graphs will always cross at 5252 because HP is always (no ifs, and's, or buts) calculated from torque.

I think that baileyrx was trying to say that when you calculate torque from HP, you're not getting the peak torque number; rather, you're getting whatever the torque is at peak HP RPM. You still don't need to do the formula twice, though -- you generally know the torque at peak torque!

What does "Paxtoned" mean?

http://www.paxtonauto.com/

They're both running Novi 1500s at about 8 lbs of boost on conservative tunes and stock bottom ends.

but the problem is that the torque required at that RPM to make that amount of HP is more then the peak torque....

No it's not. You forgot that RPM is part of the calculation, not only a condition.

I think he is takling about this .......

"Camaro site:

Horsepower (hp @ rpm):
(projected)
422 @ 5000 (LS3)
Torque (lb.-ft. @ rpm):
(projected)
408 @ 4500 (LS3) "

You HAVE TO have more TQ than HP if the RPM are lower 5252 .

I think its a MISS-PRINT and should read
422hp@6000

now every thing fits !!!!!!

What? Why would we talk about the topic of this thread?

J/K I guess I forgot that we had that as the context.

we have enough constants to calculate that those numbers dont match up when solved the Torque

What matt55 is trying to say is that the Camaro website lists the peak hp for the Camaro to be 422 hp @ 5000 rpm and the "peak" torque to be 408 lb-ft at 4500 rpm. The only problem with that statement is that in order to have 422 hp at 5000 rpm, the engine MUST hbe making 444 lb-ft of torque at 5000 rpm. The contradiction occurs because 444 lb-ft is greater than the listed "peak" of 408 lb-ft.
