I remember buying my first new Camaro. Ordered a fully loaded dark blue 82 Z28 when I was 21. Sold my 78 Z28 to get the down payment. Nobody ever paid for my cars except me. Those were the days.

And the cool thing was, I was buying old school muscle cars in high school because that's all anyone could afford back then (the massive oil embargos/high gas prices in the early and mid 70s cause what I term "muscle car dumping"). In our high school parking lot we had a green LS6 SS Chevelle, a 69 Z28, a 68 Road Runner with a 383, a 69 Charger or Challenger or some sort of MoPar, all I know it had a 440 six pack. I had a 64 Malibu SS, that I sold and bought a 69 Olds 442 4-speed with 3.91 rear gears for $550.

There's never been any modern day high schools whose parking lot looked like a muscle car show. So I feel very fortunate.

For those young folks enjoying a new Camaro....SAVOR IT!

im 16 ordered the car at the end of june i was 15 then and i got it in September when i was still 15. Its a 2LT/RS M6. I didn't pay for the car but i treat it like i did.

Heh, I don't think I'd be alive today if I'd been driving a good V8 in high school. I was about as restrained and responsible as a teenager can get and I still almost killed myself with a 170-hp Datsun (that would be the day I learned not to suddenly floor the gas while in the middle of a turn in a RWD car).
