I think they stopped putting those on when GM took bail out money and became "Government Motors" for a while. They also stopped putting the "Perfomance Division" tag in the engine compartment as well.

The GM Chicklet was removed from all GM cars....not just the Camaro.
Seriously? "Government Motors" . . . Are we not passed this :-/

Lets see if the rest of this thread can go without politics.

Originally, it was an effort to create a stronger identification with the company. The number of people today that still say, "I'd never buy a GM, but Chevy is ok" would surprise you. This was a directive from Mr. Lutz as I recall.

However, GM has since decided that with a strong focus on the 4 main brands, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC and Fenwick's Favorite (Buick if you don't know Fen), that this identification would no longer be necessary.

Brand awareness now trumps corporate awareness.

I slapped the GM badges on my '03 Envoy.

GM Chicklet Emblem on side?

Why do some cars have the GM emblem on the side and some don't?

Ok, others are going to flame you for not using the search function.......

But I'll explain it. Relatively early in 2010 production, GM decided to stop putting the "chiclets" on the sides of their vehicles. It was somewhere between VIN 40,000 and 50,000.

They are known as the GM "Badge of Excellence".

I think it was because they wanted each GM brand to be looked at as individual brands, and not all part of one big brand (GM).
