P.S. My service expired a few days ago...and my XM still works.
be prepared for some hassle....our xm expired in our montanna in November and the service continued to work. we called xm to tell them to cancel the service because we didn't want to be billed for the extra time. We then received no less than three phone calls per week and generally one letter in the mail per week. We repeatedly told them "no, not interested, cancel the service" This went on until mid Feb. of this year when they finally disconnected the service. "All over right?" No my wife gets a letter last friday from a collection agency for six months of service from xm. they never even sent us a bill.WTF? I was pretty pissed so I called the collection agency immediately and asked to speak to a manager who was actually really helpfull. He provided me a contact # at XM after I explained the situation to him. I phoned them and after 20 minutes on the phone I was reassured our balance was cleared to zero and they would call the collection agency and have them delete the file. Now we wait and see if this will really happen or if the BS will continue.

The first couple of reps will always tell me they can't do it etc. but usually by the 4th or 5th call some rep eventually caves in and agrees to my renewal price of half off. Once I had to actually allow the service to lapse for a few weeks until they caved in and gave me my rate. I guess they figure half is better than zero. Just my experience with XM customer service.
Is there a way to get your radio converted to Sirius With out putting in an aftermarket?

from what i previously read on other threads, no such luck. even though they are owned by the same company they use a different setup or something to that affect. kind of sucks because when sirius first started coming around i got a lifetime subscription, and i can't just use that for the car installed radio.

You would think GM would read these stories and tell XM to either start having decent customer service or they will stop putting their radios in GM cars. This is outrageous that XM would pull this kind of crap that could ruin a GM customer's credit rating.

Yup...every horror story here is true and I have personally been through every one of them with XM...including the continued service after I told them to cancel it, the bills that followed it and the collection agency thing. I had written down every time/date I called and the name of the agent I had spoken to. They even denied they had any agents by that name!!!!

I had to cancel my credit card to prevent their billing. When I finally got another bill in the mail for 3 months that they had taken 30 days off of as a "gesture" I wrote a response on it in big letters with a magic marker. I told them I had already asked them to cancel the service, do not EVER call me again to renew it and that I had a copy of this which I was sending to the BBB. That one finally did it.

Say "NO" to XM....

They kept phoning me too. About the 5th time they gave me 6 months for $3.99/mo. I took that deal.Catch is I have too cancell in 6 mo. If I don't they add another 6 mo. I should mention I have it in 2 other vehicles year round.

Probably the most unprofessional thing about XM is their website service. If you want to update your billing address, phone number, or possibly even remove your credit card number from their system, a pop-up comes up and says "We're sorry, but we're currently updating or making changes to your account. Please wait ten minutes and try again." (Or something along those lines,) and it prevents you from doing anything to your account. Thing is, no matter HOW long you wait, you will always receive that message, 24/7. I had to give them a credit card number to get the NFL games during the season, so I'm nervous for when my subscription expires in June.

I will never give my cell phone number as contact info again when I purchase a new car... XM harassed me unmercifully and it took four conversations over a three month period to get them to stop ..... not only would they call multiple times a day they would call three or four times in a 10 minute period of time and usually during business hours when I am on my phone trying to make a living.

I would have considered renewing XM but now I would not use their service at any price . They can get bent

I feel the same way. When I bought my car, they said I could delay my 3 mo. trial because it was winter and I wasn't driving it. So when I called they said they had no record of that. The story is longer, but I'll leave it at that. I will never do business with them.

I have personal not had any issues with customer service. But Satellite Radio is the best. I love the traffic / weather updates, talk radio and the music by Genre (especially the music by decade). They gave me a great deal of $6 per month since I already had 2 Sirius subscriptions.

Hey for a price of a large latte at Starbucks you get music for a month, not bad!
