Found over 25% Leakage out of cylinders 1,2,6,5 and 7
Went into the dealership with the AC not blowing cold air, and talked about a minor surging I had since I first bought the car 2SS/RS. They found the leakage through the exhaust valves. Anyone else have this problem? Or I'm I the only lucky one?

It was only at idle. It was very minor didn't really seem to effect power during acceraltion.

You sure you don't just mean the cam lope? It's normal for the engine to rumble and shake a little while at idle, some may think the engine is missing/skipping/surging.

Dude, he said the dealer found exhaust valves leaking...doubt they would tell him that if there was nothing wrong

I'm surprised how many of the guys here assume a rough idle is cam lope. cam lope is consistent and is a reflection of the cams duration and overlap. i highly doubt GM installed a cam in these cars with that kind of overlap which would affect emmisions. also overlap and duration tend to reduce engine vacuum at idle. a car with a big cam will have an even rythm in the idle and will be more pronounced when the engine is cold although fuel injection should compensate for that. these cars do not have a big cam. I have a casm in my 455 which has 238*/248* @.050 and it has a lope. |

The car is a M6. They removed cylinder heads and took them to the machine shop. Reinstalled and found my idle to be much better. ALso the climing through the RPMs on full acceleration is much smoother.

Heater is right on.
The dealer is truely outstanding....VERY impressed. Was the car tuned? Very unusual for a new motor to have leaking exhaust valves...especially that many unless there was a lapping & assy error. A tune gone wrong can burn exhaust valves/pistons but they would have seen that w/the heads off. Wonder if there is a certain run of heads w/this issue..... |

every manual trans ls3 owner i know has comented on the rough or unstable idle, i think it may be normal. mine also does. your dealer really went above and beyond for you which is great.
