Oh, and please tell me just what I'm supposed to be taking responsibility for because I'm confused. Should I take responsibility for the ding in my car that the lady next to me just put in when she swings her door into it? What kind of responsibility could I possibly have in this situation?

I park like that when ever I can. I see no reason to be ashamed about how I park because my wife and I worked hard for us to be able to afford this car. So since other people are carless I will just help them out. I also have a 2006 honda accord and while sitting in it this guy hit my car 5 times with his car door and then I finally said something. People just do care about other peoples' stuff. So if I will not take care then who will?

That is true, I see it every day on the road, if someone thinks they can get away with doing something stupid then they will, rules apply to others not them and if they see someone else do it then it must be ok for them to do it too...... My wife almost got side swiped by a guy in a Jeep Cherokee when he decided that there needed to be a second left turn lane at a stop light...He just ran right up beside her and turned left with her..bypassing about 5 cars that were in line in the real turn lane... I am always seeing people exiting a certain parking lot through the entrance lane so they don't have to wait their turn... also at the same place people making a left turn into the same parking lot where there is a No left turn sign posted...
And today There was a Jeep (Whats with these Jeep Owners???) Heading straight at me in My lane wanting to bypass a bunch of stopped cars so he could turn left..I had to stop and wait for the other lane to clear so I could go by him..

Ok my rant is over for now.... see who that pissed off

Our parking is the result, not the cause.
Oh you're right, I forgot

"It's not my fault, I'm trying to avoid the people who ding my doors."

Thanks.

People like that guy are the reason I can never own the only pickup truck I could see fit to buy (a Ford F-150 with push bars, re-enforced bumper and slightly larger-than-stock tires.

You see, if I were to one day purchase that truck, I'd be in a jail a week later....something about it being illegal to run over or through the idiots who can't drive.

Since you asked, and since you can't see it. I'll explain:

Your way of thinking is exactly what I'm talking about. Someone dinged your door, so that gives you (in your mind) license to break the law and park however you like.

In other words, you are putting your decision to break the law onto someone else's shoulders. It's "their fault" that YOU made the choice to park like a jackhole.

Question: When you do park like that because of what someone else does....what are you going to do when some other jackhole decides to key your car because of it?

My point being, you run a risk either way. If you park normally, yes you might get a ding. If you park like a jackhole, you might get keyed. Which to you sounds worse?

Thanks. I forgot the excuse:

"I worked hard for my car and *deserve* to park like this."

You know...I'm sure lots of people feel that way about their cars. But if everyone parked that way....how would people know what a parking space was? Why waste the paint on the cement? No one would follow it anyway.

You can believe whatever you want, but the fact of the matter is, you have no such "right." You have the right to park however you want in your own driveway, but unless the parking lot belongs to you, your parking in it is a privilege, one dependent on your following the rules, regardless of whether you think you're inconveniencing anyone or not: don't go through the lot at 60mph, don't park in reserved or handicapped spots or where it says "No Parking", and do park between the lines, not over them. It's the parking lot owner who has all the rights - including the one to have your car towed or booted if you're taking up four spots at the periphery of the lot, if he so wishes. The fact that the people owning parking lots don't go after you doesn't mean you have a right they're just busy doing something else.

Try and defend taking up multiple spots all you want for whatever "my car is too pretty to be breathed on much less parked next to" reason you can think of, but don't go around creating imaginary rights to excuse it. That attitude is way more problematic for the rest of us than simple, "there's a rule but I don't care" arrogance.

I'm just trying to figure out how you are able to afford a Camaro as I have no choice but to believe your occupation is a Meter Maid.

I am not the parking czar and I do not give a sh@t how many spots you all hog, I just think that it is foolish to call attention to your car like this. I park in BFE in one spot in the far corner.
Why not take up two? What is the difference at that point? I can't speak for the guy in the picture on the initial post, but I go out of my way to park out as far as possible...NOT anywhere near where this guy parked (nearest lot to the door). I took mine to the mall this weekend and I was literally so far out that I was closer to the businesses across the street than I was to the mall itself. Literally took about 5 minutes to walk to the restaurant we were going to and there were conservatively a couple hundred spots closer than where I parked. So how the hell exactly is that hurting anything other than causing me to waste extra time walking. I had so many parking lot dings and dents on my last car from morons (didn't care it was a lease) it wasn't even funny and this was my reward for always parking between the lines.

I just want to see all of these peoples Parking Lot Police Badges. Why so many people get their Diapers in such a bunch over other peoples parking i will never know. I guess they all are perfect never got a ticket never late to work (not that was their fault) have always followed the law 100%.

If you don't like the way others park call the Real police and have them handle it. You are not in charge of this world get over yourselves...

And this mindset could be considered the 'sequel' to the excuses.

You're not the cops, mind your own business.

Okay, we'll just keep on minding our own business when you people come here complaining that someone keyed your car.

1 ticket in 48 years, 1 accident. I fought the ticket in court and won, the accident was a dummy looking at the beach instead of my 4x4. Made a nice sound as he slid under it on the steel bumper.

So, I am the parking police. If you are in BFE, again, why do you need to take 2 spots?

I don't think anywhere in that statement i made an excuse for peoples parking

As for getting keyed. Won't ever complain about it here if it ever happens. I don't think it will happen anyway And if it does they are my choices in life to park how i want if i get a ticket it is my fault it i get keyed Well that is just some child with his diaper in a bunch.

O and by the way nowhere in this thread did i say how i parked. so you have no idea. You just assumed. i just think it is your mindset that someone makes a statement that is against your better then though attitude and you instantly assume i park like the people you are flaming on.

If I was on my bike I'd park on his drivers side in between him and the car to his left just to even it out. Who gives a damn. Ain't your job to give parking tickets.
