Some questions for European Camaro Owners...
... or anybody who is knowledgeable.
![]() I'm considering getting myself a 2010 Camaro 2SS/RS A6, but I got a few specific questions before I take the plunge. 1. On cars with Xenon (HID) headlights, most, if not all, European countries require washers for the headlights. How did you install those, or did you get around it somehow? 2. FM radio tuning steps are 0.1MHz in Europe (instead of 0.2MHz in North America). Can the radio be programmed for this? 3. Does the radio come with RDS? The User Manual does mention it, but I've not been able to find additional information. 4. Did you get an American or a Canadian car? Was there a particular reason for your decision? That's all I can think of at the moment. Thanks in advance for any information! |

1) First time i heard about is required, here in spain its allow.
2)I dont know but this kind of this only can be done entering a service menu on the radio. 4)I think the only reasons to buy a canadian car, are to get km/h vs mph, liters vs galon, tail light... |

Hallo Armus,
I'm also planing to import a 2010 camaro to switzerland. I'm almost done with collecting all the necessary informations and will fly to NYC at the 6th of april! Here are some first answers: 1. You'll definately need a Xenon-Wash-System. Otherwise you won't pass the MFK at the Strassenverkehrsamt. (road traffic licensing department). There are 2 possibilities: DIY (Do it yourself) or bring the car to a shop. Some shops offer a complete package for arround 4'000-5'000 Sfr. which includes: - Installation of a Xenon Wash System - Changes on the Lights - Exhaust Modifications including the Exhaust-Test - Noise Measurement (Lärmtest selber beim DTC) - Security Tests (needed for Vehicles newer than 2007) - Getting all documents Ready - MFK/Vorführen But even with only little technical skills you should be able to do about 60-90% by yourself and save a lot of money. 2. I don't think so. I've already sat in two 2010 camaros here in switzerland. You just can't recieve some of the radio stations. Since most of the Radio Stations send on 2 or more frequences you'll probably be lucky. But c'mon who is listen to radio anyway? 3. Not shure on that one. (Sorry but I don't care about the radio) 4. As far as I know are some Canadian cars equiped with Tacho-Meters in Km/h which is definately nice for us. But it is not necessary because ghe Strassenverkehrsamt accept both the US and the CAN tachos.(Because the US-Models with mph tacho do display kmh on the analog instrument cluster as well.) Let me know how far you are with your plans or send me a PM. Grüess, Mike |

Are you talking about the tacho or the speedo ? The speedo can be changed in the radio settings. Will look the same but read KPH. I think most everything can be changed to the meteric system in the computer very easily.

Yes, the speedo is easy to change (DIC). But if you want the tacho to show KPH in first place (Bigger than MPH) you need to change the face.
Not shure if there is already a european version available but there is a canadian version available. Probably someone can post partnumbers. |

1. Change Halogens for the inspection, or for good. No need for washers.
4. Canadian. Had to. |

Got mine in France, did not need the washers! I know that in Swiss they do have them, my buddy has one. Looks ok, and easy to mount. Radio does switch and read EU freq ok.
Mine is US or CAN, will let you know! Color, availability, mileage, options are the only reasons I chose it! |

Let me reply as GCC/middle east spec cars would be closer to EURO spec cars due to similar regulation
1. On cars with Xenon (HID) headlights, most, if not all, European countries require washers for the headlights. How did you install those, or did you get around it somehow? Cant comment here as we dont have that regulation.. but i see above someone mentioned a very good solution 2. FM radio tuning steps are 0.1MHz in Europe (instead of 0.2MHz in North America). Can the radio be programmed for this? in GCC/ME specs our radios are 0.1 MHz so im sure that might just be a programming issue.. cant mention specifics.. I do however know a guy who brought in a Benz from teh USA and he took the car to the deaer here and they fixed his radio 3. Does the radio come with RDS? The User Manual does mention it, but I've not been able to find additional information. I think it does.. but RDS isnt used here much... so i never bothered to check 4. Did you get an American or a Canadian car? Was there a particular reason for your decision? I got a GCC spec which is basically a canadian spec (i think.. due to kmh speedo - btw you can change between the two... but the numbers dont. So if you had a mph gague and changed to kmh, the dial would only go up to 200 and not 300 like on a kmh speedo) |

Radio Frequency in Europe
Hi all,
I have imported the Camaro in The Netherlands without any issues on Xenon and washers. But is there a solution on the frequency of the radio Thank you all |

Yes - you can update your radio. Did mine last week. You need to find a chevy dealer with a mdi diagnostic tool and acces to tisWeb.
