Kicker 12's or Kenwood 12's

I have a 1000 watt Kenwood Amp and I'm thinking should i got with the Kenwood KFCW3012's they supposed to be able to take 1200 watts at 400 RMS compared to the Kicker 10CVR1124 that peak power at 800 but can handle 400 RMS?????? Help Me Please.

Kicker! Kenwoods have high wattage levels, which makes people think they will sound really good, but that isn't really the case. Kicker's are the best bang for the buck subs. I have a 10" Base model Kicker and it does great, that's with pushing 500 watts to it in a Jeep with the top down.

Kicker either the Solo Classic or the L5 or L7, Trust me I used to sell them at circuit city and install them.

Both would be fine. Pick the cheaper.

1,000 watts of what......music power?? I get a real kick of hearing the car stereo buffs talking about the humongous, bodacios power amps and all of the thousands of watts. 250w RMS would blow most any "reasonable" person right out of the car provided they have not yet suffered hearing loss. I highly recommend investment in companies that make and sell hearing aids, it will be a huge growth industry in a few years to supplement the hearing of the "trunk rattlers" I see/hear/feel riding up and down the streets these days. My club rig for three music synthesizers and powering two 15" two way cabinets and two 15" three way cabinets plays a small to medium club quite well with 265w RMS per channel stereo power amp. It is a shame that JBL stopped making their "kicker" boxes, they made a nice 10" three way and a 12" three way, I've got a pair of the 10s in my work van.

Single Coiled, which is why I am saying you won't be upset with the higher model that you are looking at. If you are willing to spend more money, JL W7's or W3's are just about the best subs on the market. But like I said, bang for the buck, Kicker is the winner.

What Kenwood amp? Make sure it's rated at RMS, not just a big peak number thrown up to impress you. I'd go with Kicker subs over Kenwoods anyday, Kenwood headunits being the only thing Kenwood I would buy.

Make sure you match impedance numbers, and RMS numbers. Peak numbers are for the idiots who fall for marketing ploys, lol.

if your not married to either kicker or kenwood subs, there are better options out there...

JBL makes a real nice sub these days if you want to stay with a more well known brand, and I would rank them higher than either the Kicker or Kenwood... but there are tons and tons of options out there. better subs for the same or less money.

heck, go to partsexpress.com and buy a Dayton HO 12 or even an HF 12 instead.

RMS/Peak numbers really dont mean as much as most people think they mean. you can run 1000 watt amp to a 300w sub as long as you set your gains appropriately you will be fine. of course you can also run 100w to a 1200w sub perfectly fine as well... with gains set correctly.

Don't worry about peak power worry about rms and the db rating. I would go with a cleaner setup. Since you already have the amp make the amp work with a good quality sub. I would go with JL subs

If the choice is between Kenwood and Kicker, Kicker all day long. Get the Solo Classic and smile.
