People are telling me that by using a home depot microfiber towel i am ruining my paint. I dont wanna remove swirl marks. No interest at all. I just wanna wash, dry and wax regularly without causing damage.

Maybe when i feel more comfortable i will polish out the swirls but for NOW one thing at a time. This is what I do now, tell me what to change.

1. wash with microfiber mitten.
2. drive car at least 80mph to shake off excess water
3. dry with microfiber towel whatever left over.
4. wax out the water spots using garbage turtle wax hard shell sealant. I know its trash, I will replace it shortly with Mother's or Adam's.

How can I improve these steps guys?

Here is what I'd do;

1. STOP buying your products for your car at Home Depot. That is not meant to sound harsh, but they don't offer the proper "tools" for automotive applications.

2. Buy either chenile, or sheepskin wash mitts; one for the body, one for the lower body portions, wheels, etc., and if possible, get a wash bucket with a grit guard.

3. To dry after washing; I don't prefer microfiber for drying. I prefer 100% cotton towels. (Adams or Zaino offer a good choice) And I would remove the hose nozzle, and allow the water to "sheet" away most of the water/soap during rinsing. I would also dry the car without taking it for a ride to remove the majority of water...when you return from a ride and there is minimal water left, when you then proceed to dry, you're moving a towel across the paint surface which may be mostly dry, hence causing swirls, etc...

4. Go buy either Mothers or Meguires wax/polish. Its a GREAT over the counter alternative to Turtlewax.

You DO want to set some time aside in the near future to address the paint, ie; thoroughly detail and remove the swirls. Ignoring them will lead to more work/headaches.

Sounds like good advice Ed. What cloth should I use as an applicator for wax, and then a removal for wax? No Microfiber? How about Terry?

I think that the small microfiber applicators are the best to control where the product goes and how much you use. I just put my first three coats of zaino on this afternoon (z5 z5 z2). I used about 0.8 oz each coat. If you use as little as possible there is no edge work that you have to do.

I got some of the z5 on the rough black trim under the rear bumber that didn't come right off. I'm going to try to scrub it with a tooth brush to see if it comes off.

Ill use microfiber to apply AND to remove then. OK. I' buy some from Adam's I guess. Is foam any good? It's cheaper.

A little dab of peanut butter will get the white wax off of plastic.

Yes; I am serious, Trust me My AV has a lot of plastric.

I really like working with the applicators offered by Zaino (www.zainobros.com) as well as the "white" towels for polish removal. I just Zainoed my SS again, and the white towel works great...its just the right size and has no border/tag to worry about.

After putting on my first application of zaino this weekend i'm wondering about the next application. With how easy the coats went on I could see putting a single coat on every few months or so. I mean the polish dry time could easily be taken up by cleanup time.

I haven't seen much discussion of Zaino's recommended re-application.

I also haven't seen anything about the clear seal (Z-CS) product.

I dont want a perfect wax job, I just also don't want to damage my paint. I don't need a perfect shine, just don't wanna scratch my clear coat.

Its not garbage. You can use it, but I'd personally look for something a little more "forgiving" than the foam applicator. Any automotive store should have several options.

I like the Z-CS a lot, I think that it really helped protect from the winter elements. Again though like all things Zaino, go easy and don't use too much!
