you can't rotate the tires on an SS.they are different size tires on front and rear.

The whole point of the oil life indicator is to let you know when to change the oil so as not to waste oil. If the car thinks you have 30% left, you may as well keep driving since that is quite a bit of wasted oil life if you change it at that time.

You have a 2SS, you can not rotate your tires. They are different sizes front to back. They are also directional, so they can not be rotated side to side.

I just had my Pirellis swapped back on and while outside/inside is indicated, direction is not, these tires are not directional.

as for the monitoring of the oil life it would have to keep a register of the miles and oil temp from the time that the oil was changed to indicate when the oil would start to deteriorate... the viscosity shouldn't be a factor, because we use multi viscosity oil and it varies with temperature... the biggest indicator of bad oil is the PH balance i would think that that effect is being monitored but could be... if in fact it is measuring the PH it would know the life of the oil without needing to know the other data. disclaimer: this statement is based on my understanding of oils and i am in no way an expert just having an intellectual discussion...

(I believe it says the light comes on 600 miles early). Regardless of the window, it says you don't have to change it until the computer says to. |

my dealer told me if it were his car he would change the oil after the car hit 1,000 miles no matter what. Gonna do that considering he's pretty reputable in the camaro world.

A-HA! not anymore....
read your owner's manual... it says to change oil and filter within 600 miles of when indicator lights up at 10% life remaining

I never go more than 5,000 miles even though I run full synthetic.. I will changed it earlier depending on how much "spirited" driving I do... seems the 3.6L DI is pretty hard on oil and some folks are advising to not go by the OLM...

Honestly I've always felt 4 or 5 thousand was way too often. Oils are a lot better these days, plus engines run a lot cleaner than they use to... I just wait for my car to tell me now.
