Dose anyone else drive a manual 6. I'm still having problems when Shifting outta 1st to second when at certain rpms. Char shutters and shakes when I press down the clutch. I was told it was because of the gearing by the dealer. Not buying it.

Yes just the 1-2 shift. No sticky clutch. When I'm driving and shifting from 1 to 2, the car will shutter and clunk will come from the transmission when you press the clutch down at certain RPMs. I took it to the dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong with the transmission. I drove around and showed the service rep the problem and I was told it was due to the gearing of the car. That 1 and 2 are geared so close that to many RPMs or to little will cause the car to do this. I think its a load of crap.

well I know the tranny/driveline in the LS motor series cars is clunky. My LS1 Corvette was, my LS2 Corvette was and the LS3 Camaro is. If you want I can drive it and you can drive mine and compare... Mine makes a lot of noise if you are moving slow and push the clutch the floor fast... all the LS cars I had did. IT take all the tension off the driveline very fast. Mine is less now that I have tightened up the rear with bushings and whatnot but it still talks a little. After we compare and you are still not satified, I'd call a different dealer. We can talk about it Sunday. My dealer has a couple mechanics that are very mod friendly and build SCCA corvettes so we can maybe talk to them if your dealer is a putz.

I have minimal experience with the V6 but I will take a look.

It does no matter how fast or slow you press in the clutch. I drove it this morning and didn't shift till I was at 2000. I still heard a clunk and a rattle, but it didn't shutter.

Hi, nak3dsnake, I have a manual V6. Has right around 8k on it now, no problems. At first, going into 2nd was a hard shift, whether upshifting or down, and at any RPM - but it eventually got smoother. I never experienced any shakes and shudders. I agree with you on the dealer's comment =

Good luck!

Yeah the shift in the beginning was a bit hard. But that's smoothed out over time. I've found that as long as I'm above 2000 it wont shutter but still goes clank and rattles.

I have a manual V-6 & I haven't experienced either the hard shift, or a clunk, or stutter. I'd say the dealer might not know what is up. I'd suggest taking it to another dealer & seeing what they say. The only engine issue I've had is a small tick, almost like a super charger tick. Not a big issue, just an annoyance. I've also noticed that if you don't give it some RPMS when turning at slow speeds (like when pulling out of a parking space), the strain from the power steering can stall the car. I never had that problem with my manual on my truck.

A tick? Stalls around corners if going slow? These are NOT normal! I am not trying to start a "sky is falling" idea in your head but both issues are not the norm. Is the tick a lifter tick? Does it stop when warm or you accellerate? I have never heard of a supercharger tick??? The stalling.. how low are you letting the rpm fall? It should have no trouble staying running at VERY low RPM. heck, mine idles at about 500 and doesnt stall unless I get it WAY down... The ps pump should not strain it that much. Even the V6 has plenty of torque to run at very low rpm. Have you informed your dealer about these issues?

Anyone else hear of these things?

Yeah, there's a thread or two of complaints about the AY6 transmissions. I've heard things from Toyota X-Runner owners who hate it.

hmmm... it could be the lifters. They pic up the oil and when the car is cold and the oil is sitting in the bottom of the pan, sometimes they tick for a second. Never noticed it on mine... maybe it is "normal"... but remember, the dealer also says nak3d's "shutter" is normal and OSC sticking clutch has nothing wrong with it...

Like I said, not trying to worry you country... just my 2 cents.
