Unless the Challenger owner cant drive, it wont even be close. My best track recorded 0-60 speed was 4.8 seconds. My average run is 13.3-13.45. Slowest has been in the 13.6's when the DA was at nearly 3000 feet.

Mine is all stock except for a CAI:

The old Charger 5.7 (06-08) will be a closer race.

Seems pretty close to me.
its a real shame that insideline got to do the first test and post those horrid numbers for the R/T. its the first video on youtube you see if you search "challenger r/t" and it got the media ball rolling for the constant ragging the R/T recieves. watch the video and listen to the lousy launch those "drivers" over there at insideline get and that should explain why its close.

Off the line my 3.6 V-6 6 speed auto stayed pretty close to the charger until he hit about 80. It was very evident the torque really makes the difference in getting that big car moving. Once up to about 110 the two cars were pretty close in acceleration but the Charger had opened a pretty big lead. The Charger is speed limited to about 150 to 152. I drove the Charger and it was not near as stable at speed as my Camaro. On a road with a lot of curves and lower speeds it would be a drivers race. On a 1/4 mile drag strip I'd say it would be the Charger by about 1 car length. I've driven the older 5.7 Hemi charger and new higher output Hemi and the new Hemi is definitely faster. A 2005 Hemi Charger and my V6 Camaro would be a drivers race. My V-6 Camaro weighs 3700 lbs with about 4 gallons of gas and 19" polished aluminum wheels. It would be interesting to see if a tune, exhaust and CAI would help my V-6 1LT Camaro close the gap. I still really like my Camaro but It definitely got spanked by the Charger. The Challenger would probably even do a better job.

Keep in mind also the 2009 and 2010 Chargers have 2.56 gears (Challenger R/Ts have the 3.06 in autos and 3.73 or 3.91s in the 6 speed and 372 HP auto or 376 manual HP) unless they are a 2009 Daytona or 2010 with STP. Also they aren't as aggressively tuned as the Challengers are.

And the Challengers weigh less than the Chargers as well.

Challanger R/T definitely bests our 6 bangers, plus you cant beat the sound of a hemi.

my old man has an 09 Challanger R/T, they are beautiful cars.
cant wait to see the new 6.4 in the SRT8's will do

nice....people always seem to look at the worst times and the best for the car they are compairing. The challenger r/t would put the hurt on a V6 even if the guy couldn`t launch after a bit.

bet they would tear you a new one challenger talk that you are stock accept for CAI... they are kinda touchy over there about stock times..jk

Prolly not as much as some may think. All options equal, the Challenger weighs 30lbs less than the Charger.......

I just bought my RS.. didnt go with the SS cuz of insurance insanities.. and my 6 banger got walked by a Daytona R/T with atleast an Exhaust.. i stayed close till about 90 and then he pulled about a car legnth and a half from me. These were both at moving speeds around about 55mph with me having a little head start because he went around a car just to race me.

And this was on a TRACK, correct?

lol it probably wasn’t on the track. The V6 does have power to it but comparing to An R/T is a close call. like other have stated, at the start it will be a close one but the torque difference will make the difference. My V6 had no problem blowing by a (i think it was a) mazda 3 with a turbo in it. But i did find trouble against an infinity G35s. I believe it had mods to it though...kinda hard to tell at night. All in all... as an aside... just be safe when driving around other drivers. Preferably use a track =)

It wont be close at all if the cars leave at the same time, the two may be neck and neck for a second or so.

I'll agree with the driver mod issue. We have a local R/T that can't beat a bone stock 2LT for nothing. He's tried repeatily, and no go as of yet. It's an auto car, 08 maybe?

There's definitely more in the R/T then in the v6 Camaro, but to be honest, it's fun watching the face of v8 guys when they just can't pull away fast enough, lol. We've got just enough that if we catch a v8 guy/gal napping, we just might get them!

The R/T's started in 09.

Mine is a 2010 Auto R/T that turns in average low-mid 13's, with the current fastest in my sig, just a CAI and nothing else.

Sounds like the R/T has a horrible driver, it should take apart a stock 2LT.
