can we use the carbon fiber yellow jacket on a non-FI camaro? or will it lean it out too much? a tune is definitely going to happen either way, just wondering if its a good idea to get the carbon one or not.

No, it has a much larger MAF read area, which translates to +16% long term fuel trims. Easy to sweep the code with our new SCT X3 tuners coming soon, or any LS2 Edit or EFI Live software program.

So, you can use the CF version on a non-FI camaro as long as you get it tuned whether it be with the SCT you will be selling or getting it done with LS2 Edit, correct?

after reading some more, i think that the best way to go about a halltech is looking at supporting mods. since i wont be running headers and anything crazy (sc, etc) i think the regular halltech is fine. i will only be running a borla s-type axle back, magnaflow tru-x xpipe, a cai of some sort (really leaning towards halltech), and a tune.

Short version: Intakes that are not made correctly, in terms of the MAF read area, require correction of the MAF tables to keep the car from going into lean codes. That is NOT due to more airflow, but rather incorrect MAF metering. There are many reasons for that problem, and I prefer not to educate the competition on the way to correct these problems. Suffice it to say, that if the car surges, or ends up having bandaids with MAF tower shims, and many other ridiculous fixes, it was not engineered correctly. For that reason, re-calibration of the MAF tables is generally necessary to bring the estimated air in parity with the actual air seen at the O2 sensors. By having to make these adjustments through recalibration of the MAF tables, you have voided your warranty. That is guaranteed. Now programming. This also voids your warranty, but the benefits far outweigh the negatives in my opinion, having programmed over 400 Z06s, some with over 100,000 miles on them now since 2005. We change the Open Loop PE/RPM tables to get the air fuel ratio out of the 11s and into the 12.5:1 range for best power. I change the close loop stoich to the fuel being used and ethanol content. Timing is set to ZR1 parameters. Cat over temp protection circuits that add fuel are shut off. Torque management is modified. Top speed limiter is changed to 300 mph (i.e. off) CAGS is shut off. IAT sensor modification to help keep timing higher. Cloning of the HO timing to the LO timing. Fuel delivery curves for better response, and many other track proven modifications to the ECM are done. That is "tuning". Jim Hall |

The cost of the LS2 Edit e-mailtuneŽ is not on our site right now, but will be next week. That is the best way to go, with Dyno Proven tuning. We can shut off codes from headers, and anything else you want. The LS2Edit programmer allows you to erase the "Tuned" file and restore it back to stock bit for bit. |
