curb vs camaro
In Florida we have these bird, they are some kind of crane, that always just cross the road even if a car is literally right in front of them. and it is against the law to hit one, even if you have no where to go and you accidental hit one you can get a really hefty ticket. so anyways i was driving my camaro home after a really long day, and it was around 4:00 so the roads were pretty busy. and one of these birds jumped right in front of my car. so what i was going to do was slam on the brakes, but i was way to close to the bird, and i would have hit the bird and gotten rear ended. so i decided to swerve to the side of the road. what happened next is that i hit a curb straight on at around 40 miles an hour.
the outcome? a little bit of a dent on the front bumper (not even noticeable), and 3 bent rims. i had bought the road hazard warranty but when i went to my dealership to try and get the rims replace, they said i had to pay for them because i curb is not considered part of the road, meaning its not a road hazard. so i went to another dealership and told them that i hit a pothole, and they decided to replace just one wheel which cost around $900. |

How much would the ticket have been for hitting the bird?

I would have crushed that bird taken the rear end and blamed it's death on the car behind me for pushing me into it. Stupid birds! Poor car. :(

Sorry, I live in Florida also, but that bird would have been leveled in the cement.

well they are called sandhill cranes, and the ticket for hitting one is $400+
last year there was a guy who had to spend a night in jail for hitting one. the birds are usually in groups of 2, and hitting one of them is worse than hitting both of them. |

i have done a lot of research. and i know that my cheapest option it to just get my rims straightened, its about $100-130 a rim. and now i only have to fix just 2, so it should be fine.
