I don't think they will be able to do more than 20,000 V8 cars in the first model year. Look at the 1993 Camaro stats.

Again, I am no hater by far. I am going for one. The snow here melts in April. Buy then, all orders will be filled and new orders will be taken. Then in July/August they will have to ramp down production.

The Car is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! But it is coming out 6 years too late and at a very wrong time. I am also saddened by this. But it is just the truth.

But if they even produce 1/2 of what they targeted to sell (50k of 100k) then you have a bet. 50K won't even be close.

I even make another bet, that they don't reach 40k in sales.

Just curious if anyone knows how many camaros can be built in a week or a month starting Feb 16th. My dealer seems to think I will have mine by the end of March which seems iffy to me. I just ordered a 2ss Nov 22

There is a gentleman here from Oshawa who says they can put out 400+ cars a shift at capacity.

First, GM has stated that initial production will be low and then ramped up later. Second, accordingly, they've said the initial allocation (cars to be built) through Q3 of 2009 (Feb-Sept) is 15,000 vehicles or only about 26,000/yr. - NOT 100,000. That comes out to about 2,100 cars/mo. or about 100/day.

And, with only about 7,000 allocations remaining at this point, and assuming the dealers will get all of them because no more cars are preordered, each of the 6,000 dealerships across the U.S. will get only 1.1 lot cars until after late September. Even if 20% (1600) of the preorder people at this point back out, as you say they did with the Challenger, that leaves only 1.4 cars per lot. Believe the numbers...NO CAMAROS will be collecting dust on dealers' lots in July!!!! I'll also take that bet!

So then, that leaves, assuming no ramp up through '09, 7500 more cars produced in Q4, or another 1.25 per dealer. Looks like slim pickins to me. Good luck finding one built just the way you want it.

I wonder if the camaro numbers are even close to the Challenger's.

I've seen two challengers on the raod out here. Both V6's I gotta say the orange is pretty sweet.

I've seen 4 up here. One V6 and the others were all SRT's. Orange, black and a dark grey. They are an eye catcher when it's coming at you. Camaro should be even more of an attention getter!

The Challenger is indeed a good looking vehicle. I got to take a good look at an SRT that my father-in-laws friend has. As impressive on the inside as it is on the outside. Although offered, I couldn't take it for a ride that day since we had been on a speedboat poker run on Lake Erie during during the morning and into the afternoon and I was pretty lit up from the ending "activities"...

I actually considered buying one, an RT anyways, but decided to wait for the Camaro pricing. Bang for the buck? You can't beat the Camaro. Glad I waited.
