This is not entirely true with the 3.6.L. It has been proven that when you run 87 octane in the car, it pulls timing which absolutely decreases power. It will run fine because it does this with 87 but you will get more power if you run 91.

Try running a couple of tanks of premium Aby and see if you can tell the difference; it will generally take about 100 miles or so for the ECU to "learn" the difference in performance from the higher octane gas and start making timing adjustments. But I'm guessing with the mods you've made you will see an improvement.

just started putting super in last week, maybe put 100 miles so far, no change in mpg but I was sitting in heavy traffic , will run a few more tanks than post some findings, right now I am averaging about 19 mpg mixture of city and highway, but I have a heavy foot and I sit in a lot of traffic.

Okay. Everything cnofear said is correct. One small bit of information being overlooked is that the 3.6L is a high compression engine. It is 11:1 compression. Yes it was certiied on 87 octane. as said previously Scrming has data logged showing the knock cnofear spoke of causing the computer to pull timing. On my wife's suv with 8.5:1 this is not an issue. On these cars when you are running down the strip looking for anything and everything this engine will give you then 93 is your friend.

So wouldn't that mean the V6 should have been 93

That's what I've been saying. Lol. My dealer put 91 on it's first full tank. Bought the car with 5 miles on it. And I've put 91 (premium) in my car since.
