Not sure if you're talking to me, but I did check the manual. Doesn't mention my specific question on whether or not the V6 and V8 are different since they have different factory fill. However, here's the response from Chevy:

Dear Matthew,

Thank you for contacting the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center. We appreciate you taking the time to write us about the oil life system of your 2010 Chevrolet Camaro.

The GM Oil Life System bases its calculations on the factory-fill requirement. While you may experience some benefits from the use of synthetic oil, it does not extend your vehicle’s required oil-drain interval.

So basically, they are saying that it uses the factory fill, which in my case would be less than what I should be getting since I'm using synthetic. Of coruse they say that synthetic doesn't extend the interval, but I'm pretty sure synthetics are made to last longer..guess it's easier to say it doesn't change than to offer a solution. Oh well, even with the settings the way they are the computer says I have 75% remaining and I already have 2000 miles on this oil. So 8000 miles is still pretty good, can't complain.
