So I just got the cable in a tested it, and it works fine.. the 100 watt light source was for 100ft.. were only going about 2.5 ft . I havent had a chance to get pics up, as my camera took a vacation to Virgina Beach

Are you using the OEM LED as a light source? Is the light pipe the same material and diameter as the DigiKey pipe?

Yea I am useing the OEM LED, and the sideglow isnt the same material as the light pipe from digikey, it is a plastic based single strand fiber, and yes you can get it in the 5mm size so it fits perfect. you have to remember that this is NOT the hard acrylic light pipe like digi... so when you cut it you have make it as clean as possible, so use a very sharp razor blade, or Hot knife ( sodering iron with exactor blade attached )

I only tested a small piece ( about 1 ft ) I bought 6 ft, so I had some to play with.

My car was one of the new one that unfortunatly did not have the wire harness installed in the dash. So i have had to make some mods to this using t-taps from radio shack, and the wiring behind the kick panel. It not hard, just a pain in the butt.

Just trying to find time to get get the install started.. it all preped though.

I'd be interested in seeing how this new fiber looks. Does it really matter though if the end is cut clean? The digikey tube was always kind of cloudy when you look at it from the end.

Also if anyone screws up the sanding, of the dash trim and it is the silver color. My Toyota Camry paint, Antique sage pearl (1b2), works for touching it up perfectly.

I purchased some of the side glow pipe, and hooked it up using 1 of the blue GM led's and it didn't provide as much light as the digikey pipe. The side glow pipe is like a giant hot glue stick in my opinion. I'm curious how it worked for others

Not if you polished the ends with a Compound like this.

Sigh, everything is great but I screwed up the sanding, gotta love $40 mistakes. I used 320 grit paper. I taped it but had a very hard time getting to sand it near the tape, ended up with a very uneven line.

If you use the non-OEM LEDs, you could probably get a neat effect by using two different LED colours and have the ABL fade from blue to red (for example) as it goes from one side of the cabin to the other. (Replacing the LEDs in the opposite door, obviously, to match the second colour.)

Light tube

So has anyone sourced a replacement light tube or have a extra they'd like to sell. I've looked and called everyplace I know of and came up empty handed.

If someone wants to make some cash name your price and pm me. Really want to do this mod with the digi tube.
