I have heard several articles saying that the auto tranny is junk in the new Mustang v6. Anyone seen a test of the m6 v6?

I had an '05 V6 Mustang automatic, I took it to Kilkare Dragstrip a few times. It would do 15.4s @ 90 mph all day, but couldn't get break into the 91 mph or less than 15.4 ever. Just traded that in for a 2011 Mustang 3.7 automatic with a 3.31. I plan to take it to Kil-Kare Dragstrip this Thursday evening if everything works out ok, seems like it will.

I very much doubt I'll hit the 13s with the automatic, but I'll bring my motorcycle helmet just in case. Based on my 0-60 run (judged by iPod app Dynolicious), I would guess I'll get around 14.5, maybe 98 mph, give or take a couple. I have the base model with base tires, but with the optional 3.31 rear end, so it could be interesting. I'll post the time slip, but beware, I suck at this getting good launches. It's all fun though. I have much love for the Camaros also, had a couple in the family, so I'm not here to inflame anything, I just like reading about cars I think are cool.

Hey lostnight...glad to see you here. I promise not to bash you if you don't bash us! lol (just can't say the same for everyone here!). I'm interested in seeing what your car can do, and if you happen to get a slower than mag tested time I'm not going to make a big hub bub about it...
...but actually it seems pretty much all the mags tested the manual version. Don't hear much about the automatic. Test drivers don't seem too impressed with it, but then again you have the 3.31 gears so you just may have something there. Good luck out there!

Cool, I promise to post pics of timeslips, no matter the results. I'm not exactly sure if you doubt that I'll post timeslip pics, or if you doubt anything I posted in my signature, but I have pictures of times to back up whatever time I post, got a question about one, I'll throw a pic up. Doesn't mean you have to believe anthing, lol! But I'm not here to deceive or argue, or get in a pissing contest. That's a waste of time.

Thanks, I haven't seen any automatic times on the 3.7 auto either, so I simply thought I could see what times I could get and post them, it's something until the magazine "professionals" put down more official times.

Thanks for the welcome. It's a nice tame daily driver that can get up and go when needed. In some ways it seems similar to my '05, which also had the 3.31 (standard), so I'm comfortable right away. The dimensions aren't far off at all. When I did my 0-60 runs, i seemed easier to get a smooth launch without laying too much rubber, perhaps beause power is applied to both rear wheels in the 2011 as opposed to just one in the '05.
