I, for one, have contacted my dealer about getting my deposit check back and putting in on a CC, just in case. I've also asked what would happen to them if GM went bankrupt. Will update if anyone cares...

I care.

I have talked to 3 dealers in the area and 2 are preparing staff for closing up shop. Cars are going to be sent to auction. At least the dealer I have mine on order from said they will wait till GM goes chapter 7 if they can before closing up.

And the panic starts...GM loses dealers...sales go down...GM can't sell enough to stay afloat because sales are down...Chapter7, here they come. God, I hope I am absolutely wrong here.

Look guys. I'm not saying I can predict the outcome here.

But, I'm pretty sure, this isn't over. Both the current administration and the future administration support these loans to the US carmakers.

It's not over.

Guys and girls, this is absolutely true. A company doesn't die and scrap everything that quickly, it tries to recoup as much money as possible before going under and it will sell the brand as a last resort to the highest bidder...etc.. Do not worry... A bankruptcy would allow for restructuring of the business and removal of a lot of overhead that goes into legacy costs. As for now, this is the worst case scenario and it doesn't look like it is going to happen since the automakers have other options in front including waiting for Obama to take office and asking him for help which he will gladly give for more Government control over the auto companies. There are multiple options and at the moment "panic" is not something they are seeing yet, if not Rick Waggoner would have taken the $1 a year salary in exchange for the bailout money to help his company..

GM might lose some dealers and have to hire new workers etc.. However they will still hire new ones and allocate all those Camaro's to other dealers willing to stay open and cruise out the storm..

From the New York Times (November 19, 2008):

"The auto industry’s immediate future may now lie with the Bush administration, which has staunchly opposed using the Treasury Department’s $700 billion financial bailout program to aid Detroit...

Mr. Wagoner testified Wednesday that G.M. had not prepared a contingency plan for a bankruptcy filing if federal aid is not forthcoming. He said G.M.’s advisers had concluded that it could not obtain credit to operate in a bankruptcy, and instead would have to consider liquidating its assets." (italics added)

Honestly, very very scary times.

GM has said time and time again (if anyone was listening)....It would cost MORE to scrap the program now than to just finish it and come out with the cars.

Doom and gloom....I swear.

Can you imagine if they only made a limited run of 2010 Camaro's and those ended up being the last cars GM produced? I think they would be worth a pretty penny someday.

You've all heard this, a light bulb is brightest just before it burns out. Consider this:

1. Corvette ZR1
2. Cadillac CTS-V
3. Camaro SS

Man I hope this isn’t prophesy, I have an allocation for a CTS-V with a Jan allocation and most likely a Jan or Feb build date.

Our news (in Detroit) just reported that a bipartisan deal has been reached-This was reported by Levin, and all the details are not available yet. A vote this afternoon.

I, like eveyone else, has faith in this company & putting the Camaro forward, it's the only thing right now that can save them. I realize every level of gov't (at least as far as the CDN gov't is concerned) is willing to invest in the automotive sector, as it is the backbone of international economy.

The Canadian gov't is not going to wait and see what the American gov't is going to do, but they (CDN gov't) haven't really layed out a specific plan either...that's typical up here. Our provincial premier has told the media that no matter what kind of help is provided, the automotive sector in Ontario is going to be depleted in the future, even though it is the top money maker in all North America.

Let's all hope for the best, and don't get offended by what I'm going to say.

NOTHING IN LIFE IS GUARNTEED.
