Hello my first post here,I'm planning on trading my 06GT in this spring, deciding between an 08Shelby GT500,Challenger or new SS Camaro. The local GTA chev dealer says there will be an upcharge on the Comaro, and the Challengers are going for full MSRP. The GT500's are now down to $45,000to$48000 for 08s. What do you feel will be best bang for the buck??

Welcome to camaro5, you will not be disappointed. Best bang for the buck IMO is the camaro 2ss, hands down. do some exploring on the site, and you will be able to see why...

If you're willing to wait until all the initial hype (upcharge) is over and get a 422 HP Camaro SS in the fall of 09, it will by far be the most bang for your buck. 100+ ponies on the Mustang GT and 6k less than the 425HP Challenger SRT. Really a no brainer in bang-for-your-buck discussions.

All are beautiful cars. The Challengers are going for full msrp and some places $2000 above here in winnipeg. Starting to see more and more of them on the streets and almost all the dealers in town have a couple in the show room. By spring you'll be able to get a fairly good deal. That will be a car that'll be worth something some day for sure. If Chrysler packs it in they say the car will be worth what it would be in 30 years almost immediately. I've been in the 6spd manual RT and it's a wicked ride. But Mustang GT will still walk all over it.
The Camaro on the other hand is better bang for the buck compared to the Stang and challenger. That care is gonna rape em all. It to will be woth a good chunk in 30 yrs and if some get made and GM packs it in that is gonna be ridiculous what they'll be worth.
Now the GT 500 is a pretty sick ride. A bit more but Shelby's will always be worth huge money down the road. Don't think you can go wrong with any of them. Just depends what you want and how much you wanna spend. But like I said you would be hard pressed to match the Camaro's performance & Style for the money.

i talked to our local Dodge dealer here to ask him about pricing for the Challenger and how they are selling. So far he's received 7 Challengers (5 V8s and 2 V6s) and he still has 5 of them - all the V6s. They do have 2 more V8's coming but he says that's enough for them for now.

but two interesting things about the challengers...in oder for him to get challengers, he must take other product and a lot of it! anwhere from an addiational 5 to 10 pieces of other chrysler/dodge product!!! Caravans, Rams, Jeeps...etc.

That is the main reason they are asking more than MSRP on the challengers...so they can make up for lost gross on the other vehicels they have to take just to get a challenger.

now i'm not saying that all dodge dealers are like this, but watch out...you could be getting 'grossed' just becuase that dealer had to take extra product and not becuase of a real 'market value' of the car.

GM dealers do not have to take other product to get camaros. MSRP is the market value of these cars right now.

Factory ordered Challengers will be under the MSRP and might even drop a few bucks from the final price.

The Mustang looks a lot nicer interior and exterior. It will outsell both the Camaro and the Challenger 2:1 if not by a wider margin. Ford is doing the best out of the 3 American companies because they have a winning formula and great advertising. Knight Rider like the show or not has been a success in making all Ford cars look good...Now the 2010 Mustang looks more similar to the GT500 front fascia which is what makes it tough looking.. Overall it is going to be cheaper than a Camaro which will win over many people... The Camaro will do well, however it is going to take a lot of advertising and perhaps the new Transformers 2 movie to energize the crowd once more...

I test drove an Shelby GT500 yesterday, very impressive it is night and day different from a regular mustang GT. Going to test drive a Challenger RT when weather is good. It is a great time to be able to buy a good american muscle car!

That's all I got now, can somebody confirm/dispute these values?

I have always understood the front plate mount where required is a no charge item. Is the 15.00 for cars ordered in those provinces where it is not required?

I have a copy of the "revised" pricing and will post the document shortly. The document stated that the prices were revised and that the prices could change at any time.
