The Mustang had braking issues due to pad compound that hurt performance. No one has tested a Saleen to this extreme. We'll work with Saleen to get those dialed in for the shoot out. The Camaro had an experimental set of bars. What we are selling is better. The Camaro suffered from the bars we were playing with. We'll go back to the 27 and 32 that we sell right now for every day and the shoot out. Both cars will be better the next time they are on track. I can't wait. Wow, must have been a really tight course. I know those pesky Rustangs handle pretty well, but the HP could'nt help the Camaro, it had to be a tight course.

I hate to say it but judging from the length of the strightaways, I would have to concede that the Rustang out handles the Camaro, but it makes up for its short comings with brute horsepower in the straights. So how am I doing on the analysis?

From an engineering perspective, our position is that we need to collect more data. We'll sort the brakes on the Brand X and go back to our production sway bars on the Camaro. This was a test day and we had variables in place that influenced the results. The next time out, the Brand X will have better brakes and the Camaro better balance. Both should be faster, but only one will be the fastest that day and it will be posted in this forum. There is one other factor I should mention. The engine computer system in the Camaro has more controls in place regarding heat. That means with each lap the Camaro has a bit less power available, at least that is how it feels. We are looking at all those parameters and a safe way to preserve power as heat builds or if heat is actually building. The engine computer uses 'modeling' which essentially ignores the huge oil cooler and calculates oil temp as opposed to using the actual oil temp. It is that type of computer assumption we feel is causing the computer on the Camaro to reign in the tune. We could be wrong, but we'll know before we go back out on track. As I said, we need more data. |
