Went with the K&N...

After looking at the pics of most of the systems posted here, I decided to go with the K&N...the most trusted name in aftermarket air filter systems. Installed it today.

I am amazed at the amount of people that keep their engine cover (aka heat blanket) on their engine. If you put it on for pics and shows, that's one thing, but to keep it on because "it looks good" is not doing you any favors...
Sorry to get off topic, but are you saying that it contributes to heat soak to keep the engine cover on?

Yes, the Engine Cover Holds in Heat

I'll respond before DieselNuts does. In a hot climate like we have here in TX, the engine will stay cooler by removing the cover. The cover does keep heat in the engine. That's why mine is removed in the pictures I have posted of my K&N system. It's been 90+ Deg F for over 3 weeks now.

The hood already has a blanket fastened to the underside of it for insulative purposes. The engine cover itself serves no other purposes than to act as heat retainer, dust shield and something to make the engine compartment look "cleaner".

Well said. Exactly how I was going to put it. If you are a stickler about keeping the looks of the cover, just keep it in the trunk and when you pop the hood, put it on to show it off.

It's been 90+ for the past couple weeks here in GA too. Actually when checking the weather yesterday, it said "95 degrees . Feels like 110" due to the humidity.
