Dude....come one. Quite telling us the "facts" when you are just guessing. If you know exactly to the 10th how fast the Z is please tell us how you gained these magical powers.

i voted for mustang not only because i already own one but also because if i had to pick again i'd still go with it. i much prefer the styling and the V8. when the 5.0 debuts it would be an even easier choice, though i still usually always go domestic over import

Car and Driver has been pretty damn good with times. They're the guys that got 5.1 out of the Chally R/T when everyone else was getting 5.5 (or 5.9 for Edmunds since they have no idea what they're doing). C&D is the only magazine I trust with accurate times.

The Jan '09 C&D is listing weight at 3350-3400 and estimating 5 flat 0-60 and a 13.6/105 The Jan '09 R&T is listing weight at EST 3175(!) and basically the times with about a tenth of seconds difference,so the same. Sooo,it's basically the same as a Mustang GT in a straight line and with much better handling. Toss up. The interiors on both these cars is amazing,AMAZING,compared with the outgoing models. Well, from the pics anyway. I haven't read either article,i just got them,i haven't got MT yet. |

For stock times in new cars I only trust Evan Smith. Wish he worked for another mag so he would test non ford products more often.

Thread resurrection...
I'll take the Mustang if only because I can actually fit in it. No such thing as a comfortable driving position in the Z if you are over 6' tall. |

i didn't feel much difference between the handling capabilities between the Z and the stang, and they are essentially identical in the straight line. so i chose the american car. |

I guess I am all legs, with the seat all the way back my knee was still constantly banging into the steering column. I thought it was a shame as I really liked the car but simply could not get comfortable. If the steering and handling of the new Mustang is comparable then I am really looking forward to trying one out.
