Simple answer to your question from my opinion. No the sc isn't worth the 7 grand "feel" wise. As far as improved power yeah its there but for some reason turbo has alot more "feel" to me then this sc.
It is hard to explain but in all honesty the car only feels different off the line for the most part. On the highway you really don't feel much of a difference which is a good thing to some. You will notice acceleration improvement, you will notice stock tires just aren't gonna cut it anymore for drag racing. This past weekend i raced at a small town races on a airport runway. On stock tires no matter what i tried no traction till about mid second till begining of third gear. I beat pretty much everything that wanted to line up against me from cammed and nitrous 4th gens to vettes. Wins would of been alot more impressive if i wasn't spinning so bad. I called it a day after kicking the car to the left real hard after hittin second. So yes power is there. Now as far as this new group of racers that like to forty punch lol, yeah you will rape them since traction isn't an issue off the role. Car does attract alot of attention with this setup, friends all love it. Went to a car show this weekend as well and once the hood was popped i was locked down for next two hours snow jobbin the car person after person.

Thanks for the input and glad to hear that the car feels more powerful than it did stock at least. What about the set-up attracts all the attention? Is it the look of it under the hood or the fact that it spins through the first two gears? Thanks |

The "feel" is diff to me basically becuase this is my first supercharged car. My other cars have always been n2o or turbo. And always the cars i had were very low torque ....... 350z, first gen dsm's, rx7, civic ...... I installed the 3.6 pulley which woke the car up some but i still can't get used to such a heavy car. I bought this maggie for 6200 dollars after tax. To me its fifty fifty, i don't feel it wasn't worth the money per power gained but i definately feel i should of waited and maybe rode in some cars with diff setups. I should of made a more patient and informed purchase lets say.

Have you considered drag radials? Tire spin is going to be an issue with 100 plus more ft lbs @ 2500 rpm. Your posts read to me like you cannot get used to the heavy feel of the car...... Last edited by BlownChevy; 06-23-2010 at 09:21 PM. |

How do they work on wet roads... I'd love to get a set but with all the rain here.... Not sure if I'd be sideways.... I mean more than I already am...

I ran about 12 wet laps at the track last weekend on the NT05's. I think they handle very well in the rain. I run at the track with everything off (traction & stability) but after one lap in the wet, I turned the aids back on. With traction control on, they still feel pretty good. They don't look like they would be great in the wet but they don't feel any different in the rain than the Pirelli's did. The NT05's are my favorite tire and I will be getting them again.

Thanks for the report Speed74SS. I just ordered the NT05s for my car. I wasn't sure I made the best choise as a DD tire. I was most concerned driving in the rain. I'm putting down 550rwhp and my stock tires do well in the rain but I can burn um the length of a football field. Mike down in FL at Extreme Performance advised me to go with the 05s for the street and not a drag radial. I hardly go to the drag strip and never do auto course but I wanted a tire I could drive everyday and still get a good hole shot when needed. If I start taking it to the strip I'll mount a good drag radial on my stock wheels.

So tell me with the maggie and other mods on your rides did you guys/gals upgrade the brakes to the slotted or vented version, and if so how much better are they than the stock?
I guess the maggie doesn't really affect the breaking it's more about individual driving style just wondering if the added 125+hp if you guys felt it necessary to upgrade the brakes? I am assuming that drivers with the maggie are inherently more aggressive driving these cars whether on the street or the track . I am an aggressive driver myself and know at some point I will kill the rotors and plan on upgrading to a slotted version when that time comes. Hell, I've replaced rotors on every other car I've owned and would think my 2SS would be no different especially with the weight of this car.Any thoughts? |

I upgraded the half shafts in the rear just to be safe and also did some Pedders bushings.
