I stopped at the dealer today to have them use their scanner to reprogram the tire pressure system in my car. It found all of them, but, as usual, the light came on and it lost the programming about 15 miles down the road.

The good news is that the dealer (where I bought the car) didn't charge me for it today. They told me to stop back in if it doesn't "stick." I'll stop back tomorrow.

I'm afraid I'll have to order a set of OEM sensors from them in order to get this to work.

Maybe I'll try the Jeanius method of letting the air out really fast to see if that works.

I just don't know if it's the after-market sensors or the Camaro's computer that is messing this up. I'll keep after it. I just hate to spend more money on these wheels. I already spent almost $300 on the mounting, balancing, and adapters to put the sensors inside the wheels.

There is a bulletin out from GM on this #PIC5174G. If your car was built before breakpoint A9132183, the BCM needs an update. You will need to go to the dealer for this.

My car is A9181297, so I think it was built after that cut off. Thanks.

I forgot about this thread... sorry to post and then drop out.

Yes mine were PQs stock 20's (I already wore though my tread). I replaced the tires with PQ's and started the TPMS learning process. The first 3 went fine, last one would not learn... tried it over 10 times over 2 days time.

I took it to the dealer, they couldnt get it to learn either so they reprogrammed the TPMS somehow... then it worked fine... but they charged me ~$75 even though I am under a warranty and an extended warranty... so I gave them a bad review

PS: don't go to Premium Chevy in Bessemer, AL!

Seems like the later builds are having more issues, maybe it is the other way around? My car has the same sensors, never had issues. Very early build.

So, I stopped at the dealer again today to see if they can do anything with the TPMS problem. I left the car there half the day. When I got back, the tech, Jeff, told me that he called GM about the problem. GM said it's my window tint interfering with the TPMS system and I have to remove my window tint. I told Jeff that I tinted the windows in March and have had no problems with the TPMS system until I used the car's "relearn" feature. Jeff said he didn't buy GM's explanation anyway.

So, he reprogrammed the sensors again using the scanner. He said to call him on his cell if it lost the programming again. So, on the drive home (just like clockwork) about 20 min. into the drive home, the DIC says "Service Tire Pressure Monitor System" and the dash light started flashing.

So, I just called Jeff on his cell phone and he said he is going to have the dealer order a new detector for the car that goes in the headliner. They'll call me when the part comes in. Fortunately, they're treating it as a warranty issue right now.

The saga continues...

I'll be shocked if that's it. But, ya. It's amazing they are allowing the warranty coverage. That's cool.

But yours are doing exactly what mine are........ err........... were.

PQ:
I told my dealer that a lot of guys were having trouble with the "relearn" feature with the stock wheels and sensors (which they are if you read through this thread and other threads). I really think it's the "relearn" programming in the car. Somehow it isn't storing the TPMS data properly. That's the story I told the dealer.

The dealer did ask if I could mount the stock sensors in the new wheels. I said I probably could, but it would cost me another $300 to have the tires mounted and balanced again, plus probably another $100 to have the stock wheels taken apart. (Fortunately, I haven't sold the stock wheels yet). I think it will be a lot harder to sell the stock wheels without the sensors in them, so I may have to order some sensors from GM. I'm sure they won't be cheap.

Ya. It is weird. Jeanius has my old 21s and apperently the sensors stayed paired this time. Bell040 isn't as lucky. Doing the same thing so your dealer may be right on. Let me know how it goes.

I know this. I'll NEVER buy a serviceable item on the internet again. You have nobody to help you. Everywhere you go for help you have to pay. If I had bought these from a local shop, I'd have my wheels right now. They would have driven it and had the problem taken care of. It's been 2 and a half months and I'm on jackstands right now.

TPMS sensors are just another thing I could have had done had I bought local. Any problems would be fixed for free, and immediately.

PQ-
I agree. If the new part the dealer is going to install in my car doesn't fix the problem, then I'll buy OEM TPMS from the dealer (or take them out of my stock wheels) and have the tires remounted with the OEM TPMS sensors inside and hope the dealer can get those to work. I really HATE having the yellow light on in the dash. It's a NEW car and I don't want to put up with that.

Nine Ball has offered to let me send the sensors back and he'll give me a refund on them, but that isn't really the expensive part. It's the mounting and balancing wheels at $300 each time that hurts - plus the time it takes to take the car in to have it done.

On the other hand, I am having new brake rotors, brake lines, and calipers installed on my car in a week or two. Maybe I can get the wheel TPMS sensors reinstalled, if necessary, at that time because my car will be in the shop for a couple of days then anyway.

Fingers crossed the new sensor fixes the problem. It really shouldn't be this hard to get TPMS to work.

I'll be curious if the OEM sensors or the like will work. And hell ya, the sensors should work. After all, theirs like, what, and inch and a quarter from the rim to the road? Working sensors will let you know if you're low. I don't always get a chance to walk around my car with a flashlight at night.

And, ya, after all, look at the money I'm out after having my wheels mounted, balanced, dismounted, shipped and mounted and balanced again. This is usually taken care of by a retailer.
