I can't believe the Ford people are so sensitive.

Next time a Ford person opens his or her mouth learn if you can about the 5.0 Mustang Ti-VCT (Twin independent Variable Camshaft Timing) engine. In pure stock form it's tuned for emissions and economy not all out hp. It needs to be tuned, therefore right off the showroom floor it not quite as fast an SS.

The 2011 5.0 is a great car, even I would purchase one.

BTW I'm sorry for all the GT 500 Mustang owners with 540 hp since the 412 hp 5.0 Mustangs will blow your doors off!

Oh my.....

It is not about being a Ford person but about quelling the BS. Up until last Wed. I owned a 2010 SS and a GT500. I traded the Camaro in on a 2011 GT. I have owned all 3. Let me interject some reality.

1. 2011 GT can be made much faster than the Camaro for less $$$.
2. Camaro is a great car.
3. GT500 will blow the doors off of the GT and SS stock for stock.

You can fantasize all you want but those are facts from someone who has owned all 3.

I set my cruise at 47mph last night going to work, but it wasn't flat, still got 38mpg out of the Camaro. One big hill dropped it to 31mpg for a brief period, lol.


Although I didn't drive the full 35 miles to work, I did do this over about a 12 mile span.

This is true for any car coming direct from the factory, including the Camaro. Why do you think just a tweak the factory tune on both cars nets additional rwhp? Help me uderstand the point you're trying to make with this statement.

What? you do realize versions of this engine in 3.5 and 3.7 liter displacements have been used wince 07 which means they were working on it before there was a Camaro concept and even before a di 3.6 was offered. I takes years to develop an engine anyways.

So that means that the Chevy 3.6 was in development before the Ford V6... correct? plus this engine has been in use for several years now in the CTS...

Lets see I averaged 31 mpg for 40 miles at 65 mph average on interstate 40 in North Carolina.. I bet I could beat that on Bristol Speedway at 48MPH..
I really do see that that is really much to brag about seeing they used Ford Engineers with fuel saving gimmics that cannot be used on the highway to do most of the driving...
I would rather see a test of the Mustang and Camaro driving nose to tail on the same real roads by average drivers to see which one would get the best mileage...That would then be something to brag about...

I can also see this hurting Ford in the long run, publishing these figures and then when people get the car and think they can get that kind of mileage just by driving easy, they may be very dissapointed in the car...
