Long thread, so I don't know if it was posted earlier (I couldn't find it), but did this Mustang have the standard all season tires, or the wider summer tires that come with the Brembo package?

Also, when the Camaro was run/dynoed, what was the temperature and humidity compared to when the Mustang was run/dynoed? With 400+hp engines, a 20 degree temp difference could mean 15hp.

It was this type of thinking that allowed the imports to take over our market and push 3 (if you include AMC) domestic brands into bankruptcy and the other to the brink. Please explain what is wrong with modern technology. The Mustang's 5.0 engine and the Camaro's IRS are each car's biggest respective asset. The Mustang's SRA and the Camaro's pushrods are each car's biggest respective liability.

the camaros pushrods are one of it's biggest assets, IMO. to hell with expensive, complex DOHC systems that offer little gain.

I set my cruise at 47mph last night going to work, but it wasn't flat, still got 38mpg out of the Camaro. One big hill dropped it to 31mpg for a brief period, lol.


Although I didn't drive the full 35 miles to work, I did do this over about a 12 mile span.

Mostly city, lots of stoplights. I did do about a 170 mile round trip on the highway to go to a car show in northern Columbus. Using a lot of A/C lately, was also doing 0-60 runs, and two evenings (6 runs total) at the local dragstrip.

And the SRA under the Mustang is one of its biggest assets, IMO, but that does not stop people from making it out as a detriment to the vehicle. So to paraphrase you, "to hell with expensive, complex suspension systems that offer little if any benefits over a properly engineered solid rear axle setup."

what a coincidence i love the color on YOUR car! even stranger is with my extra two cylinders i am averaging 19.3 mpg....lol... maybe i should live more.

i agree with you. i would rather have a solid axle. i think GM screwed up by putting an independent rear in it. there is beauty in simplicity.
