Everyone does stupid things especially when they're young. One day they might grow up to be great people, oh, but not in your neighborhood, huh?
I am going out on a limb here and say that if the person is stealing from me, and is a threat to my property (or family) that I work hard for, that I will protect it. I will not shoot to kill, but there will be enough bird shot in the fella's legs that he will think twice about effing with things that are not his, and that maybe stealing is NOT the way to get things, as it is a rather painful process when it goes wrong. THEN he will become a productive member of society with the scars as constant reminders as to why he is on a straight and narrow path.

People who just shrug this off will allow the problem to just get worse. Oh sure, you have insurance, which will be more expensive due to the claim. And it is only property, right? You do know that kids that start out stealing petty stuff out of cars and trucks eventually go on to breaking and entering, right? You need to stand up for your rights and protect your property, or this world is going to become a really bad place...and the haves are not going to have anything anymore.

You know what really bugs me though, and it goes back to the days when I was a kid. Other kids were mean...other kids would break things...other kids would say things...my father would say "They are just jealous. One day they'll get theirs..." And here were are, years later, the kids grow up to be a$$holes, or their kids are a$$holes and the pull this kind of crap. And here we are saying "well, they are a$$holes and they always will be..." "their day will come..." blah, blah, blah...well you know what? I wasn't convinced then, and I'm not convinced now that their day will ever come (at least not on this earth). And that is the problem...when one person has an edge up over another, some one is going to get mad...let's scale it up for a moment, and look at what really causes wars...

So where do we go from here? How do we, and is there any way, to change this type of behavior? And the thing that sucks is that those of us with the "edge" (in this case, a nicer car that makes someone mad) means that we end up having to pay double (we pay for the car, and then pay for the repairs, and in some instances, multiple repairs). This sucks! And when I asked about the illegals (while I may be put up for profiling) what are the chances that it was one of them who did it? Pretty high, I would guess...which means we are paying THREE times because we are paying to support them.

Sorry, I'm spouting a bit here, but the idea that "someday they'll get theirs" never sat right with me...

Just Do This

The best advice is do not fix this car. Drive it like that, so every time you meet someone you can tell them the truth that someone keyed your car.

It's a battle scar. Someone put a hole in my convertible top. I just put some black duct tape on it. If anyone asks I just tell them the truth.

If you don't fix it, then you dont' have to worry about it.

There will always be PUNKS and low class trash wherever you go. Just leave you car alone. You'll feel worse when you fix it and it happens again.

I repeat: THERE WILL ALWAYS BE LOW CLASS TRASHY PEOPLE if you LEAVE YOUR CAR parked where they can vandalize your car.

Don't waste your energy fixing it every week unless you plan to leave it in a garage or park it in safe-secure environments 24 hours a day.

adios

Glad to see it's back to normal. It's unfortunate that it happened at the Moon since I live near that area. Off topic, I've seen your neighbor's '65 Impala on DM a couple times. Small world...

I'm glad to hear it was fixed! How much did it cost? I decided it would be fun to take out my garage - $1400. SOB

As far as keying... There's this crazy 'individual' out here that has it out for me because her stupid boyfriend used to text message me (about leather no less, business only). So, I had to stop driving it to work where I couldn't keep an eye on it the whole freaking time. It's sad there are crazy people in the world.

it really is sad that no one can have nothing nice without a jerk being jealous and destroying someone elses property

im not rich or even close to it, i used almost all my life savings (i'm 22) to get my camaro a couple weeks ago and i havent got any damage yet but people keep messing with it

it shouldnt matter but i worked my butt off to be able to get the car i love and i hate that this happens to so many of us

The left wing enviro nuts have been responsible for keying a lot of cars they don't approve of.

dealer quoted around $2700, i don't care because insurance paid for it, i just paid the deductible.
Oddly enough, the alarm didnt go off... I dont think someone keying it would cause enough of a disturbance to set the alarm off.
