Smile Excessive bounce with Eibach?

Hey all!! I'm new here, originally from New York city now residing in North Carolina . Just wanted to introduce myself real quick.
I have Eibach springs and sway bars on my SS. I find that the ride is now "bouncy" and unsettled over uneven pavement. Anyone else get this unsettled "feeling"? I did not have my bump-stops cut. Could this be the issue?

I recently added Eibach springs, but not the sway bars.. I don't have any bounce. Seems to be a firmer ride. After i fitted them i took them around a not so good road, then to an area that has a bunch of rumble strips to get them grounded....So far have not felt any bounce

I might be alone on this one : I have had tons of lowered vehicles, many with lower drops than the eibachs. Bad install maybe? Any suspensions guru's on this morning?

he he, lol.

I read in another thread, Apex Chase was saying that if you use lowering springs on stock dampers, if you go below 1.25" of drop, that the ride will become bouncy and unsettled. How low is your car? This is because once you lower the car past a certain point, the dampers become ineffective.

I have Eibach springs and bars. Lowered the car 1 inch. I cut the bump stops 1 inch. No problems here and overall car rides much better with none of the traits you are describing. I also had to realign the front and rear of the car as the alignment goes out of spec's. Camber was the most out of spec. Good Luck.

Monster Todd : I only went 1 inch on the drop with the stock dampers. Got some good info on possible solution... stay tuned, lol.

Sack rat : The shop that did my drop did not cut my bump stops. I also did a full alignment after the drop. Cutting my bump stops next week, hopefully that resolves this issue.

You should NOT cut your bump stops. It's not necessary for this kit, nor recommended. If it's that bad, the install may be a little off. Give it some time to get seated too.

There are several threads discussing centering the OE bushings. Dropping the Camaro can put a preload on a OE bushing, which can add to rebound rates

You are correct. A substantial amount of the OP's bounce is coming from uneven preloads in the bushes.

Think of it this way. If you removed your lower front control arm and set it in a vice by clamping down hard on the steel ferule bonded to the rubber bush would it hold straight. The answer would be yes. Is the jaws grip the ferule as tight as the bolt on the car you can raise of lower the arm, but with resistance. When you release it, it will spring back to where it was before you twisted the rubber around the ferule. That is why bushes must be timed to ride height.

Take your car to the alignment shop. Have the tech loosen every rotational bolt / bush in the suspension. Drive the car SLOWLY and CAREFULLY around the lot with the bolts a couple of turns loose. Put it back on the alignment lift. Without taking any weight off the wheels, tighten all the bolts. All the bushes are now timed to your new lowered ride height.
