I HAD THIS PIECE LEFT OVER FROM one of THE first SERIES OF INTAKE TUBE mock ups(oops) this should put the filter lower and closer to where the cool air will enter engine bay

Very cool. Just one thing I can see that might be of help and that is to attach to outside rather than inside of the maf tube. Might get some flow restriction there.

looks like the filter might hit the radiator, or the front of the car when installed? did you measure everything out?

i finally have it all together. now i just have to install it. i don't think i improved the flow. if any thing i restricted it by using 3 inch od tubing before and after the maf sensor housing( it is 3 inch id) i do not have my filter compartment built yet so it will not be a true cai until then. i might have made a mistake in the way i attached the hump hose, a air leak may occur. plus i meant to place the hump hose on the bottom but it was late and i i put it on top of the 4 to 3 inch 90 i will post pics soon.

almost there

i installed it and it sounds great when accelerating. its not pretty but works with no codes. if i were to do it again, i would not.... and just purchase a system on ebay for around 238.00 $ heres some pics next is the filter enclosure then it will be a true CAI

its a little frankensteinish !i am not pleased with the final outcome. the 3 inch od tubing on each side of the maf section is more restrictive than i would like. the kn aluminum system shows the area before and after the maf section ,looks to be around 3 1/4 inch id, so the greatest restriction is at the maf and the throttle body. one part touches the radiator hose, and the the 90 at the has a little kink to it . you cant see it because of the thermal tape. also i meant to put the hump hose on the bottom.

why did you make the tube smaller where the maf sensor goes again?
