i've told some of my good friends they're spoiled when their parents bought them new cars. did they like that? no. did it change anything between us - no.

i paid for my first car, had to get good old Uncle Sam to pay for my college. had my dad sell my car when i enlisted and I still havn't seen a dime of that money! lol.

I don't hate you for getting a free car, i just don't agree with it. good luck bro!

Thanks man dad is a little like that... See i havent mentioned anything to him about it yet... He is a strict guy... So this is just a possibility not a sure thing

Everyone back home my senior year was getting a 10 to 11 grand crotch rocket

I asked if i could buy ( With my own saved up money)

a 150 cc used Dirt Bike roughly 2,300 dollars

He said no and i got yelled at for even asking lol

his first car was a Ford Pinto that couldnt go in reverse

He works hard for our family and i appreciate that

He thinks im lucky (Which i am) that i have a pretty nice truck

Love my dad

Im not spoiled guys just a Southern guy that wants a Camaro

Welcome to the site. This is going to be a bit off-topic, but is it just me or are there a shit-load of teenagers on this site trying to buy a 300+ HP car? I learned to drive on a 1980 International Scout that was a total POS. My first car was a used 1988 Toyota Tacoma with a tape deck and that's about it. There is no way that my parents would have ever approved a Camaro or even a new car as my first. Maybe I am just getting old.

No you aren't getting old...my first car was a 78 Mercury Monarch with 8 track! Bought and paid for by me and I even paid the insurance, I was 16!

Seems a lot of younger guys are in here asking/getting a new Camaro but I can only say that's the way things are now. I have a 16 and 18 year old and they too ask me about new cars! I say not a chance to them all the time too!

My son ended up working and got a 99 Toyota Corolla and it's served him well so far and once he finishes school he can get what he wants. My daughter doesn't have a car yet and I'm still looking with her but she's got about $3K to spend that she saved up.

Nothing wrong with wanting and nothing wrong with parents helping their children but my opinion is...a Camaro as a first car is not what a teenager needs, not to mention the insurance!

Good luck to you and hope you get what you want.

My parents paid for half of my car, it was a 73 914 porsche, Actually 3 of them, all project cars. I gave away one, took all the parts off another, and made a decent car out of it. Total purchase price was 2k, so I had an extra 1k from my parents to fix the car while I didnt have a job. (I was 14).

Many moons pass and the car is now a street legal race car with 9's and 10" wide slicks, flares, and a 350 SBC with fuel injection (and all the other bits possible to do to the car).

As long as you know it's not YOUR car, it's his. Your dad will be letting you use his car.

Do you know the definition of spoiled?
Spoiled: Wanting something and then getting it from someone else.

Congrats though on getting to drive your dad's car.

Whats up with the new hate on 18 year olds getting Camaros, i understand the concern, but there are responsible teenagers out there. Besides, if you had a chance to get a v6 Camaro, brand new, when you were 18, would you have told your parents or yourself, no, and buy a civic? I am not ranting, i am actually asking, im sure there are members here who have gotten camaros when they were 18 many years ago, some may have bad stories, some may have good stories but in the end, the Camaro will need sales in every age group to survive. And there are kids who deserve a good car, my brother got a brand new 05 stang when he was 18 because he got accepted into UofT for Life Sciences. I am sure there will be idiot drivers in general who will wreck them, but i am also sure that there are many drivers in any age group who will love and respect their camaros and the potential power it has.

there are responsible young drivers... but there are very few EXPERIENCED young drivers....

hell, there are very few experienced older drivers for that matter.

my OP was not to knock him for the fact that he wants his dad to buy it, in fact im glad he's looking at the base model v-6. but it was just the oxymoronicness of the statement: Im hoping Dear old Dad will buy a camaro for me (IM 18 not a freeloader! lol)

I'll get my parents to buy mine for me...but I'll pay them back.

And I'll be paying for my own insurance.

dude, your name & your post both screamed "daddy's paying for my happiness" sorry if you don't like it. but thats exactly what i'm reading along w/ most the others. u can PM me for my full view of it, but i'm not going to argue my point on the forums

as for your question: Halos come ONLY with the RS. you can try and wait for aftermarket if you do'nt wanna pay the extra upon purchase. don't know how long it will be until someone makes them though
