If Chrysler can afford to spend money on the 2-3,000 a month sales Challenger, i don't see why Chevrolet can't advertise Camaro. Again, they did almost the same thing with the 4th gen. Advertised when it came out, and then no more commercials for 9 years.

Because Chrysler needs to advertise. There were 3179 more Camaros built than purchased. That means they are still selling well, especially with no rebates or anything on the old MY.

I'd rather they save their advertising dollars until they need to spend them. The exposure the Camaros are receiving still is pretty good for GM not spending any capital on advertising.

Edit: 1200 of the Camaros built were the old MY even.

Bottom line is the mustang is barely beating the camaro while having commercials and major discounts. and the camaro has none of either...

A few things to keep in mind.

#1. up until a few months ago people couldn't even get a camaro in some places so why waste money on excessive advertising.
#2. There are still 2010 mustangs sitting on lots with deep discounts.
#3. Just because the Mustang is selling a few more doesn't mean the end. Wait till next month and you'll see things level off.
#4. The Camaro doesn't have a Convertible or the Z28. Ford has a Vert (and 2010's with heavy discounts) and the GT500. People that buy convertibles are buying them now and they are getting good deals from Ford.
#5. Who cares that Ford sells more. Whats important is that GM is making a great product that people love and they are selling lots of them. The 2002 camaro sold only 32,000 camaros the 2010 did that in 4 months I don't think it's time to worry yet.

big deal, there are still a boatload of 'mundane-looking' mustangs on the road, new or old. And very few Camaros to be seen.

Certainly the majority were 2011's, but not the vast majority. Probably 1/3 still 2010 MY.
RPO, what did you expect from the Chally guy? Another troll spouting off mindless drivel with no factual data to back his claims

Marketing will help some but they really need to put some decent incentives on the car if they want to top the Mustang in sales. You can go out and buy a new '11 5.0 GT cheaper than an SS right now.

It was a corporate favor. The president of Universal Studios is best friends with the CEO of Chevy.
We lucked out big time
