I've heard that microfiber towel quality varies greatly and bad ones cause problems, guess I'm being (overly?) cautious.

In the research I've done I don't recall any bad reports on the 100% cotton towels, only that they are expensive and hard to find. 100% cotton seems to be slightly more popular.

If you know of a good microfiber product I'd be willing to check it out and maybe even give it a try.

yeah, there are definitely different quality of microfiber towels out there...

in general, the made in China versions are not as good as the made in Korea versions. I've been too many auto detailing trade shows and have seen both. If you hold them in your hands, you can often FEEL the difference.

here are some excellent quality microfiber towels for different usage. are you looking for any specific application?

Question, I drive my car alot, like over 26,000 miles already since June of last year.

Is it possable that wind/weather could cause swirls?

I try to keep my car clean and use all the right stuff, yet I seem to always get swirls. Especially on the trunk!!

It drives me crazy!!

not really...

i think u really have to re-evaluate your wash process. How are you doing it now? include all the steps and products you are using.

I agree with Leo... There is a right way and wrong way to wash your car. Doing it properly will reduce the amount of swirls in your finish 10 fold!

ok, here we go.

I hose the car off to get rid of dirt and what not.

Fill up one bucket with water and Zaino car wash. Fill another bucket with just water.
I then rinse my sheep skin wash mit.
I then wash, top to bottom. Rinsing each section as I go.
I then get my Zaino dry towel. Start at top and work my way down.
I never go in swirls. I always go front to back or up and down on the sides.
I have used, Zaino PC, I have used Z-5, Z-2, and Z-6.

The car looks great, but has a few swirls, and more than a few on the trunk lid.

I guess to get them out, I will need to get real aggressive.

Mit and towel are new and washed after every use.

I will wash half the roof, and rinse. I will wash other half and rinse. I do half the hood and rinse. So on and so forth.

so no grit guard and foam gun?

wash in smaller section and rinse often... if you are doing it right. at the end of the wash, your soap bucket should be CLEAN and ALL the dirt should be in the rinse bucket. If not, then you are putting dirt back onto the car every time...

Yes. It is clean.

I use the MR. Clean gun that shoots soap/water/foam on the car first. I do that in sections right before I wash. I also then use the purifier to final rinse.

I do not have a grit gaurd.

As I have said, I am driving the car alot, 26,000 miles in a year. I wonder if that is it and I just have unreal expectations.

driving alone doesn't induce swirl marks. they are from washing mostly... do you do waterless wash or detail spray wipe down a lot? if the car is too dirty when u do that it can also induce swirl marks. last thing i can think of is that you had the swirl marks the whole time. but dealership masked it upon delivery. however, they would usually show back up after just few washes.

another way to really tell is to go ahead and CORRECT them, and see if they come back with just few washes. If yes, then it's time to change out your wash mit and drying towel.
