While I don´t have any experience with a 700hp car, I plan on driving my camaro for about 6 months with 422hp then adding a turbocharger and other upgrades...by then I´ll know my camaro. Obviously I´m not going to push it to the limits as soon as I get it, but I think testing it at the track will be a good way to get a feel for how it handles.
I'm sure you realize that a 700 hp camaro will be totally different than a 422 hp one. The turbocharger may be less than 10k but the mods necessary for the brakes, suspension, computer adjustments, and other small goodies will quickly add up. You may also have to alter the transmission and gearing to be able to handle the added hp. Cool project but make sure you do it right and do it safely. More power to you (okay unnecessary pun but had to do it).

Yes and no. No matter what kind of forced induction you want to do, stock LS3 bottom ends will reliably only take up to around 8-9 lbs. Granted, that's good for 550whp on a safe tune, but to go beyond that is a BIG investment.

lol...no it's okay - I liked the pun. Sorry to the other guy who said supercharger, but I think I'm going with a turbo...also, $10K might get me an amazing supercharger, but it's not going to give me another 278hp...

I agree with above - turbocharger, brakes, wheels - all get expensive. Not sure how much suspension work would need, but it all adds up. I'm thinking in the end it's going to cost $20-30K.

I guess a lot of people just don't realize that high horsepower is much more than a just a number when you're behind the steering wheel.

Well its been somewhat confirmed that the 370 go 0-60 in mid 5 seconds

But seriously the GT, SRT, maybe R/T ( cause it go's mid 5's as well) and the SS wil smoked this rice rocket

Actually the 370z runs the 60 in a reported 4.7 seconds. Motor Trend reviewed it and reported 4.7 seconds as well. I highly doubt a GT or R/T could touch this car. Don't get me wrong I still love the camaro, but I think we should show a little to the 370.

I find it doubtfull it will run 4.7 either way the SS will kill it , there is NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT

Ah come one, that's what people expect Camaro owners to say. Be realistic. For horsepower yes, there is nothing more reliable than displacement, but for quickness it's all about power/weight ratio and the 370z is pretty good in that manner.

I remember watching a show on Speed TV a while back where they took a stock Nissan Altima (older one, late 90's) which had 18" wheels and a body kit and they ran it in the 1/4 mile. I clock somewhere in the 17 sec range. They started removing parts to lighten it...first they put small wheels on, then removed body kit, etc. By the end of the show they had removed all seats but driver, carpet, headliner, sound insulation, trunk lid, hood, headlights, DOORS and probably a few more things. It ran a low 14 second 1/4 after that. Was pretty cool.

the SS wont kill the 370z if it really runs a 4.7, but it WILL beat a 370z. The weight advantage is the only reason the Z can survive the nearly 100hp defecit.

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."
