My mistake...their mistake...$318 mistake!! Just SHOOT ME!

I recently sent my headlight assemblies to AAC for my dual Halo install and was excited when I finally got a call from Jonathan that my headlights reached him! Unfortunately the news was not so great! Somewhere between Texas and Louisianna, UPS either dropped my box or put a heavier box on top of it and crushed the box....and in turn, crushed my headlight assemblies...not just one, but BOTH! GD UPS M#%$%$F%$#$#$ERS!!!!

MY MISTAKE!? For some unknown reason, i decided NOT to insure the package!!! TOTAL KNUMB NUTS ON MY PART!

I filed a claim with UPS, but because I did not insure the package, nor did I have UPS "officially" package my delivery...the outcome is shotty at best. I am hoping and praying that they accept my claim. Cause anyway you cut it, the items were ruined while in their care and it is obvious that the package was either dropped or placed under heavier boxes (my box was quite light). All-in-all, I still had to order two new entire assemblies which Jonathan was so gracious to give me at $300. Whopping cost after all is said and done....$950! OUCH. There goes my trip to Reno.

WOW... thats SUCKS =/ But forgive me if I sound snobby... but can't the lights stay in place WITHOUT those two thingys? I mean.. If i recall correctly, there are still several places on the housing that bolts on to the car. I was in a car accident before, and one of the first things i had to replace was my Right Light housing... the Damage looks very similar to yours (the light now sits on a bookshelf in my room). But when i was hit, I had NO idea the light was out of place, it held together just fine.

Also, if UPS doesn't pay you back for damages.. will you try mending it back as best you can? I would try some highgrade silicone or something to hold it in place =p

Eitherway.. sorry to see you damages.. Time and time again, I firmly believe everything should be done by yourself.. at least when it comes to you precious Camaro. That is why I refuse to let any part of my car be touched by others =p

That stinks. I've never been a fan of USPS/UPS/FedEx etc business model that you have to pay extra to insure they do their job correctly.

Imagine hiring a plumber and then he says, "would you like to insure this job in case anything happens?"

I had thought about just fixing the issue with a water tight silicone, but the crack in the back of both assemblies is just really bad. I would run the risk of moisture getting into the assemblies. I figured it was just better to have them replaced rather than running that risk. Not to mention I would just stew over the knowledge that my assemblies were less than perfect ( I am sure some of you can understand that).

It certainly does suck..and sucked up my wallet it certainly did!

okay, i double checked my lamp. Yeah you are right, the crack is enough for moisture to get in =( That sucks... So you already purchased new housings? Also, why did you send ur lights to AAC? for Halos? =O

Beran hit it correctly: their mistake, your loss????

So you have to pay extra to cover yourself for the correct execution of a service they already charged you once to do correctly???

I hope you get a positive response of some sort, altough I foresee UPS coming up with some corporate bull:::, sorry, some corporate guidelines in which they will base their refusal to own up to their mistake.

Best of luck to you Pumpkin1LT!!

Ouch. I feel for you. I think I will always spend the extra for insurance from now on.

That being said, the damage looks like something that could be fixed with a little effort. If you have all the broken pieces you could probably epoxy them back together. Perhaps an epoxy repair and then a layer of fiberglass to brace it and it would be good to go.
