Anyone else with A/C problems this summer?

A/C is not as cold as it used to be. Car is a year old now with less than 7000 miles. I live in Texas so it's hot, but it's been cool this week (around 90 to 95 degrees) and I park in a garage at home and at work so it's not as bad as people who park outside. With my wife's car, when you get in it of course at first it's hot but within about 5 minutes or so, it's cooled down and you can reduce the fan speed. After 10 minutes of driving, usually you can put the fan speed down almost to the minimum setting because the A/C is pretty good. In my car by contrast, it doesn't matter how long I'm driving, I have the A/C set to max cool and the fan at 3/4 or full blast and I'm still hot. And that's with just me in the car, three of the 4 vents pointed at me and the 4th one closed. The air coming out is cool, but it's not sufficiently cold to cool down the ambient air in the car. I'm taking it in tomorrow.

I'm sorry but this car is a piece of crap. My '91 Camaro is 19 years old, has 203,000 miles, and the A/C works great. Oh yeah, so does the clutch

Sounds like your R134 is getting low. Slow leak. There was a story here too, where a member had his temperature blend door stuck on hot and that is what caused the AC to blow warm all the time. One way or the other, time to see the dealer.

2 issues:

1- Air flow increases suddenly and goes back to normal... wtf?
2- Air compressor doesn't start untill around 30 seconds - 1 minute from switching it on (happened 4 times so far)....

took mine in yesterday

Been experiencing a whining noise and a warm ac for a month.
I brought it to the dealer yesterday at 10am, at 1:30 they called and said we don't hear it. Then the guy goes on to say we've been driving it around and idling it all day. At this point I am so steaming, I just tell the manager hold on a second and I will be their shortly. So at 2 I arrive at the dealer and my ****ing car is no where to be found. Five minutes later some ****ing kid arrives in my car, and tells me they cannot hear it. I told the tech to get into the passenger seat and I took 1 lap around their building. Didn't drive the car more than 10 feet and the thing was louder than ever. I then asked the tech if he could hear it, and he apologized, I then demonstrated how I could make the noise go away by turning the ac off. Thinking everything was under control again, I wait outside the dealership for my ride to show up. Suddenly my victory red ss zooms past me for yet another unneeded test drive, pissed off, I waited a couple minutes for her to return. Luckily it was only a lap around the block, but my blood pressure for the day was no longer manageable, and instead of confronting the manager, I just decided to get the hell out of there.

5:30 I finally get the call. Waiting for the magic words, we found the problem, the guy is basically mumbling some shit that has nothing to do with actually fixing the car, and by the end of his 8 minute monologue, I hear the words, "GM will call us back monday on how to proceed and we will then give you a call." I hang up, drive to the dealership, wait ten minutes for him to get my car, which thankfully was inside, but when I get inside the car. I have 9 extra miles, and minus a quarter tank of gas, and I may or may not get a phone call from the dealership this week.

If I do not hear from them in the next 5 days, I'll try a dealership that is 10 miles down the road that I sometimes have better luck with when it comes to warranty work.

My A/C doesn't blow cold anymore either. It was working one day and then it seems like a couple weeks later I tried to use it and it didn't blow cold anymore. My cars supercharged with only 7600 miles and a little over a year old, but I don't think anything with the SC would cause my A/C to not work? When I turn my A/C button on my RPMs go up a bit and I think I can here the compressor clutch kick in. It's weird and I don't know what GM is gunna say when I try to take it in for warranty and they say something about the SC doing it and then I'm SOL. If anyone ha advise please let me know what I should do. Thanks

Good luck with your fix too. Not having A/C in the summer in a new car can really suck!!

I'm watching this topic now too. Mine started acting up and whining a couple of weeks ago. I didn't really notice until my wife went for a ride with me and we noticed it was LOUD and HOT in the cabin.

Standing by for what happens to you guys...

I live in DFW too. My AC blows so cold that when I get out of the car on a hot humid day, my glasses fog up. True story.

did that service bulletin for the HVAC affect your A/c? Maybe they 'dumbed it down' so that it wouldn't freeze up, but now it isn't getting cold enough?!

I live in AZ and keep mine at the lowest setting just so I don't freeze. I hope you find the issue and get it all taken care of.

Two things,
1) Hit your recirc button, then max cool (circular arrow on right, the snowflake).
2) Put an ac thermometer in your vent. (should be 40-43 deg. after a 5 min. drive).
This is the only way to know if your AC is up to speed as in many cases its just too hot out.
