I believe the OP was meaning just bore/stroke the current 3.6 out to 3.8 liters. Not update the old 3.8. If the current block isn't at it's cylinder wall thickness limit and/or stroke limit already, a 3.8 version would at the very least create more torque down low.

Plus the engine is used in more than just Camaro. No need for a larger V6, if you want more power go for the V8.

I meant bored by GM, not aftermarket. So it would still have steel sleeves in the AL block. Provided, of course, there's enough room in the block for larger pistons. |

I'd rather have a turbocharged 6 than an extra 0.2 displacement.

The 3.8 Liter v6 is really very old design, its just been updated so much.
I had one in a Chevy Monza they where call a 231 cu in back then. Then I had one in the 2001 Chevy Impala. This engine has been supercharged, turbocharged, its been in trucks and cars

In the early 1980's I owned a 1969 Camaro with a 305...when it locked up...I had it replaced it with a 350. Wow...what a car...it was white with blue pin strips...rear fender flares...air shocks and wide tires on the rear...narrow tires on the front. People's jaws dropped when they saw it. Once while cruising around my wife asked me....why are all these people looking at me?...I responded..."they're not looking at you...they're looking at this car". They looked at the car....not the engine....just food for thought....
Exterior mods and overall look is most important for shows....engine mod is only important if you decide to race.....I like both worlds!!! ![]() Mark |

the v6 is not made for power.. its made to be cheaper. better on gas and ok power... the v8 has one thing in mine thats power...
if people are worried about power and they cant afford a v8, then they should get a used car that is faster then a v6 camaro |

.4 extra liters would probably be worth about 10 more horsepower on the current engine design.

Does anyone remember when the 3.8 was the V6 in the Camaro? I do. Drove one to Florida Christmas of 1993.
