If this is a recreational car... meaning not a daily driver... a V8 is fine. I grabbed the V6 primarily because of it being my daily driver. Later on once I have this paid off (I'm thinking July of 2012) I'll be getting my SS or the Z-28 when that comes out (if it does). But you really can't go wrong with either. If you get a V6 and want more power there's always upgrades where you could end up with 300+ horsepower added on top of the existing 304. That's pretty substantial and the cost can be made over time (not at once like you would sink into an SS now). It really comes down to what you want and how you plan to use it. But both can be made to suit any driving/life style.

I never loved a car before... its always been about going Point A to Point B... would it have been worth the extra 150-200 month for the V-8? In retro-spec, yes it would have. But having no way to know that in advance, the V-6 sounded good. There is nothing wrong with either, but consider this... Very few of our monthly payments in life come with Perma-Grin. Can you trade off something in your life that doesnt have Perma-Grin.. for something that does? There is a world full of people making a car payment that dont get to have Perma-Grin... I can imagine a world back in the 60's where people loved their rides. Most of our driving world has reduced their cars to MPG, Ecco-friendly, etc... Most people's monthly car payment is a burden or a necessary evil... ask yourself how much Happiness is worth per month? In my mind you can give up 200 dollars a month worth of something that does not produce Perma-grin...

I also agree to get the most that you can afford. A 2SS/RSS is without doubt an awesome sports car that you cannot be unhappy with. But if you can only afford a 1LT then there is no shame because it it still better than 75% of the cars on the road and ...it's a Camaro...

Agree with ya! Well dude, think this way: Would you like to run in highways (where you can, of course)? would you enjoy know that you have the top of line V8 car you could afford for? If the answer is YES, so maybe you might get the V8. Yeah, it will cost little bit more in Gas and Insurance, but you know what will make you happy. Or will you just buy a V6 (and its a hell of a car!!!) and spend the money will anothers thing that can make you more happy? I would buy the best car I could, but its me, I'm a freaking Camaro fan ![]() Anyway bro, its a awsome car and engine (just take a look on others V6 , the most of it cant give you more then 260 HP) Good lucky bro Sorry for my bad english, hope you can understand what I mean!

My V6 came complete with a permagrin. I get one just thinking about my Ruby. Let your gut be your guide. Don't get in over your head. Financial strain will desrtoy your permagrin. But as my son told me "don't settle, get what you really want"; I'll add within your realistic budget. But know, you will love either car.

My first Camaro was a 1990 RS with the 3.1L V6. It had a whooping 160hp and was still a blast. At the time the Mustang 5.0 was rated at 225hp. So, 304hp V6, I would have taken in a heartbeat then.
As for a V8 being too much, all depends on the use. My 08 Corvette currently has over 530rwhp (stroker 418 LS3) and now that I am not racing anymore, it is too much to drive unless on a highway at 70mph+. That is why I am considering dropping cubes and going to a 2SS. |

It appears to be too much car for some http://www.ridelust.com/for-sale-201...salvage-title/ I have been seeing a lot of wrecked V8 lately. So either too much car or really bad drivers.
