Nice pics! Is this a new pre-production then?, because I don't think I've seen a silver v-6 anywhere in the forums yet (please smack me upside the head with a link if I'm wrong)

What you see on stage is NOT a finished product. Some have been painted a few times, have parts put in that are not finished, some stuff does not work like it should, the finish on the doors are sprayed on, etc. (ie: looks good, but really isn't cause it's not a finished product).

SO...

When you get in the floor model at the auto show and a knob falls off or the lights don't all come on, YOU say "no big deal...it's only a pre-production - slapped together - run around the country so as many people as possible can see it show car."

HOWEVER...

The person that does NOT know better gets in, something breaks or does not work (or the finish comes off the door) and they say, "Oh my...I can't believe this part broke in this new car. OH MY...I can't believe this light does not work! OH MY GOODNESS!!!...I can't believe the finish came off this door!!!...Well, I'll be! If this car is going to fall apart...and this is what they want everyone to see, I'll NEVER buy a Camaro! What POOR quality!"

Now...do you understand why they don't let people sit in them?

Scott has already told us that after the new year, PRODUCTION ready models WILL be at auto shows for us to see, touch, and sit in. There will be plenty of time for us to check them out and sit in them before buying.
Thanks for the reminder, always good to get the perspective education out there. Even from behind the glass, the car looks gooood

Wait, are you saying there might be a possibility of me siiting in one at the Toronto autoshow?! I wasnt expecting it, still not, but if they do, ill be even happier, i dont mind seeing it roped off, it will only be a short time after when i will be n mine. The show for Tonoto is sometime in January or February, do you think they would have a production model ready to be able to sit in or touch by then? it would be nice...but ill just be happy to see it there

It does look like it is sitting a little higher than some of the other RS ones I have seen. Who knows though. That is another problem with having a bunch of pre-production cars running around. We won't really know for sure until we start seeing the production cars.
Some of the other RS models we have seen are actually LS3's inside with the body of a V6 RS so they have a lower stance because...The people at the auto shows will tell you "wrong engine" so they won't open it up. This one is being opened up so it has to be the V6..

Anywhoo:

To answer some questions:

We start building 'saleable' pilots in mid-December -- and THOSE are the cars we can open up and let you sit in..........

It's my intention (God willin' and the creek don't rise) to have a production Camaro at every auto show starting in mid to late January. (meaning -- if my saleable pilot cars get here -- I'll send 'em to shows.....)

We want to get cars out there just as SOON AS POSSIBLE.......because we want to sell LOTS of CAMAROS -- and we know that there are those who will not commit until they can actually sit in one.......MOREOVER -- an open Camaro on the showfloor draws people who may never have considered an American car -- let alone a Camaro......so TRUST ME when I say " WE WANT 'EM OUT THERE IN SHOWS!!!"

.................we have given out unprecedented information on this car very early on....-- much sooner than anyone ever has..........

............the penalty for that is that it seems like it's taking FOREVER to get the cars out there........

IN reality - the 5th Gen Camaro will go from 'conception' to 'market' faster than the 1967 Camaro did!......................

IN closing -

THANK YOU -- sincerely - - for the passion and enthusiasm you continue to have for the Camaro -- we're grateful -- and we want to get them out there ASAP!!!!
Read above. Friendly reminder for everyone bout them auto shows!

Awesome pix!

FINALLY somebody got them to pop the hood. Not only that, but I say you completely scored by getting them to pop the TRUNK! Wow, not a lot of space back there... like... NONE! Oh well...

As for people pressing the excuse-o-rama, I mean "explaining" why you can't sit in or get really close to this car, I understand pre-production vehicles and all, but it IS still FRUSTRATING to pay good $$$ only to see the car from a distance, especially if you're looking to (or already have) plunked down money for one of these cars.

I for one, want the car really badly, but there's no way in hell I'm plunking down anything until I sit in it, see how it fits and if I have a massive blindspot out of the rear right.

Good thing it's only a few weeks away from being able to do so...
Car shows aren't a good place to feel out a car anyway, you really don't get a chance to take notice of things cause there's always a line to sit in these things and you feel rushed. Would recommend a good test drive when they come to the dealerships to decide if you're that torn, that way you get the ride feel and a bit more seat time as well as the functionality of the car. It's your cash, and with the production numbers planned for this thing, you should be fine - I'd wait till they hit the dealerships if there's that big of a question in your mind (not to sit in one, but on making a decision to purchase that is)

I understand all the pre-production issues as explained, but my viewpoint is that if that is the case, then it should not have been at the auto show to begin with. More hype has been established for this car than any other in my lifetime, and the waiting is somewhat tedious.

If these cars fall short of production level vehicles, leave them at home, 8000 pre orders in this economy says something, at least to me.

I have wanted one since the movie came out, and put money down the first day they were taking orders, so I am anxious to see what my money is buying.

The moonbats that were standing guard over the car didnt know jack5hit about it, one guy said it was a 6 cylinder, the next guy told me it was an 8. Neither knew enough about the options to make any sense, apparently the premature exposure of this car at the show was only made worse by the lack of knowledge that was evident in asking the basic questions.

All that said, it created quite a stir by anyone that I saw hovering around, a few guys knew about this forum, and those that expressed an interest in the car seemed to know more about it than the two guys posted next to the vehicle.

Still, I remain in waiting, anxious to get my hands on it.

So these are the painted silver wheels?

Darn, I wish they had more photos of production colors and trim levels so I could tell what wheels look best on what colors!

Thanks!

Speaking of the new year, the North American International Auto Show run's from January 11th to the 25th 2009. Now does that mean that I will be able to get into the car at THIS auto??

Who among you sat in a 2010 Mustang? I was at the Orlando show and they had a Mustang on a big turntable but you couldn't sit in it or barely even see inside it as it was above the ground. Ford hasn't announced when production begins but they say they'll be on sale "Spring 2009"... same time as the Camaro. I bet all the Ford guys are saying "hey, look at the Camaro, why is Ford hiding the info from us?" I can't believe people would rather not see anything than just see some of the car. Seriously!??!?!?!? You didn't have to go to the show or look at the car. Just pretend there's no preorders and GM is doing it like normal and go to your dealer in March and put down your order when they have them on the lot.

Oh and I think it was confirmed that they're already building the pilot cars so it sounds like they're AHEAD of schedule
