I think a hitch would be the way to go. As for everyone else cut the guy some slack, he's into mountain biking, he has to have someway to transport his bike.

Yes, buy and insure an entire separate vehicle, that likely gets much worse gas mileage, just to move your mountain bikes around. Because camaro's are the new porches apparently.

yeah that makes allot of sense doesn't it...LOL. Some of these individuals are so uptight about their camaros I think they probably give themselves an enima before riding in them

Here's my thread with all the pics of my rack with bikes:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80997

Clearly I'm stupid for doing this, instead of spending every last penny I have buying a second vehicle, JUST to move my bikes.

Then again, I suppose if there are people out there dumb enough to pay $15,000 OVER msrp, then I guess there are people out there dumb enough to think buying a bicycle-moving-vehicle is a good idea.

Just to twist everyones nipples here a bit heres my 2010 SS, dirty, with a Thule Bike rack on the back (I tried hooking the bottom straps on the hooks in the trunk then the side straps under the bumper, worked like a charm!).

For all you Bike geeks out there thats my race bike, 2008 Argon 18 Mercury, Shimano Dura-Ace groupset, Vision Base-bar, Zipp Vuka aerobars, ISM adamo saddle, VDO C3DS wireless computer, Continental GP 4000 tires on Fulcrum Racing 5 wheels with a wheelbuilder.com rear disc, I've been over 40 mph with it many times and its stable as a rock and fast as hell.

Better shot of the bike:

Some of you people are just ridiculous. It seems that every day more and more stupid people are staying ridiculous things in here.

If I had a bike and needed to transport it, I would either ride it there and back (if it's possible) or get a rack. I think it's ridiculous to spend $40,000 on a car to have it sit in the garage for shows and stuff. That's so stupid! I understand the paint thing but what can you do? Your going to get paint chips on any car no matter what you do.

To the OP I say get a hidden hitch and a rack that goes into that. That's all you need.

Your best bet (and what I'm gonna do) is to get a trailer hitch and go that route.

As for all you saying don't do this to your car like hes painting the thing neon green and purple or something seriously you need to stick it up your ass. Its just a car, and As long as its installed a properly a bike rack will do no harm.

Do you seriously hear yourselves, buying a beater CAR to haul around your bikes? And have you ever tried to put a bike in the back seat and not get chain grease all over the place, or scratch up your frame? I have a $3000 racing bicycle for triathlons, I am not taking the thing apart and stuffing it through that tiny trunk opening just so I don't have to put a rack on my car (PS it won't fit anyway that opening sucks).

Man this place is so ignorant sometimes you'd think we were driving Ferraris.
Maybe you shoulda thought about that before you bought a Camaro I guarantee you I care about my car more than most Ferrari owners care about theirs.

The idea of buying a car just to cart bicycles around is beyond stupid. Really. Think about what you are saying.
couldn't agree more, I'm amazed at how many people have made that suggestion

I did think about it and being that the back of the car is not abnormally shaped nor does it have a huge rear wing like my 99 Trans Am did I assumed a rack would fit. It turns out after some thought and finagling it did if you see my post above.

Just ride your bike on the two-lane, no-shoulder, curvy-hilly, county roads like all the bikers (and joggers) do around here.

I'm amazed I don't read about their weekly deaths in the paper.

I saw a woman with three! small kids still on training wheel bikes doing this.
"Honey, I'm taking the kids out for a ride on a two lane county road with hills and curves where people regularly drive 60-65 MPH. Nothing could possibly go wrong. See you at dinner." "And if you kids are good, I'll let you play with daddy's chain saw after dinner."
