If they make the grille more aggressive, this could look good. I like everything else. If there is some SS model, it should have hood scoops, like the G8.

Just slap the G8 power/drivetrain under the thing and call it a day.
Essentially, it already does. The Holden Statesman features a DI 3.6L V6 (which I think the G8 was supposed to get for 2011) and the L76 6.0L V8 which is in every G8 GT.

Hmmm, the next Malibu will probably be large enough to negate the need for the fwd fleet spevial Impala. Make the LWB the Caprice and the SWB the Impala and PLEASE NO FAUX HOODSCOOPS!!!!!! IMHO one of the most out of place things on the G8 were the hoodscoops that didn't do anything anyways. I hope this happens! Heck, for fuel mileage sake, lets stick the 2.0 turbo in therewhich would retain decent power and could be a nice entry level model.

The Hyundai Equus is supposed to start at $50,000. This does NOT make a lot of sense. I could see it being a G8 replacement....nothing more than that. I think it would be great, but to compete with the Equus, is a huge mistake. Let the Koreans have their copies.

I agree with this. i see the SWB sportier car and the LWB car bringing in different customers. I think the SWB will bring in younger familys looking for a sportier car and a sportier driver, while the LWB version would bring in the older earl bird special crowd. The SWB should start at around 25k with the fuel efficient 2.0 turbo (255+ HP as in the upcoming Regal GS), around 27k for a 3.6 DI (around 310 HP). and top it with a choice of l99 or LS3 (around 33k) strt the LWB at 30k with the 3.6 DI and offer the L76 at around 35k. Just an idea LOL.

Turbocharging only helps fuel economy if you stay off the boost, and that won't happen much in a 4000+ lb car. Better off to just go with a bigger engine.

True, but I was thinking more on the EPA, corporate fuel economy side. Also most people will just look at the sticker and think it's automatically going to get that mileage, so it may help sales too

Well, if it didn't work out for the Camaro I don't see it working for something even bigger.

Gotta tell ya, I drove the Imapla sometimes when my crown vic was being serviced when I was cop, I hated the Impala. Then, my Camaro goes in for a coolant leak and they give me a brand new Impala for a loaner, LS one. MAN, what are they thinking?? Anyone at GM drive other cars to compare the segment? That Impala should be shot at sunrise, LOL.
I really hope they do the Caprice/Statesmen thing but PLEASE GM, do your homework...

Fairly sure you could just shove the Camaro's 3.6L SIDI V6 into the Commodore and easily hit 30 MPG highway. A guy in Australia over at GMI hit 34 MPG in one.

I thought it used a lesser version of it already, the ~275 hp variant.

Did the guy who posted 34 mpg say if it was US gallons or UK gallons? If it was UK gallons then it would be around 40 mpg (US)

I hope they bring it so G8 owners get some more aftermarket support!
