Actually, the connectivity package, as well as leather, gauges, and BA Stereo is standard in the 2SS and 2LT and has nothing to do with the RS package

To answer your question can a v8 be too much car, the answer is no unless said v8 is on a motorcyle...

Well I was convinced and switched my order from a 1LT/RS to a 1SS/RS today. My dealer has to be quite sick of me at this point ^_^

The main thing that changed my mind was I called my insurance provider today and they said the insurance for the SS was $150 a month as compared to $200 a month for the 1LT. I thought this was pretty unusual so I asked them to triple check it and they said yes it was correct...so $600 a year will pretty much even out my elevated monthly payment with the SS upgrade

I don't think the V-8 can be too much, but I do think a V-6 can be too little.

Hey LS1owner, I am one also. No the v6 isnt the same as the LS1. In reality the LS1's made 340-350 sae net hp and were way underrated. Mine is at about 390net hp and 400 net lbftin a 3450 lb car with the same gearing as the 2010 M6. You know how our cars make that great torque from 2000 thru 4500 rpm, well the V6 is good but doesn't have the bottom end kick do to way less torque and further up the band. It does a great job as the VVT gives a good flat torque curve from 2500 thru 5500 rpm, but doesnt really go till you hit 3500 rpm where it feels like another engine just turned on. I like it though as my driving priorities have changed and I can learn to live with the v6 for what it is and what I intend it to do. Do note that adding shorty headers, intake, exhaust, IAT mod and premium gas and you can get in the 350 net hp range and wake it up quite a bit and with a good roar to it.

Yeah I know about the underrated LS1...I read that the Z28 actually put out 330 or so HP in a dyno test from one major magazine years ago saw it on youtube...I think they were trying to tell people it was a "detuned" LS1 so vette owners would feel like they got more than us..when in reality it WAS the SAME engine output...crazy.

Just remember.....the first question everyone is going to ask: "Is it a SS?" That's why I got the SS.

In the wrong hands a 4 cyl can be too much motor.

Don't forget there are two sides to the "fun" factor. Taking a v6 to the limits is a lot easier than the 8 (unless you take the safety off completely I guess), and there is a certain something nice to pushing a slower car to the edge.

I got the 8 and don't regret it, but I LIKED the fact that my lightly modded 92 mustang could easily kill me if I'm not careful. I sort of miss having the rear end try to come around on me, and the fact that it acted like a damp road was like an ice sheet. Merging onto an on-ramp in third and having the rear-wheels spin and the car get squirrely at 60-plus creates a heck of an adrenaline rush. I was severely bummed the first time I prepared to compensate for the rear-end waggle in the Camaro and felt the torque-limiter kick in. Safe - yes. Possibly faster - I'm not sure. Fun - not so much. I think both cars are great, but if you love the invisible fist that punches you in the chest when you stomp on the gas the V8 is the only choice. If you love the twistys, the 6 might be more satisfying.

Also, non-"drivers" will only ask to drive my Mustang once, but for instance the same girl who drove my Stang once and refused to ever after is constantly asking to drive the Camaro.

You know, I think only three people asked what engine and I would say the v6 and they would say o.k., but if I said the caddy v6 they say oh? and give the raised eyebrow "cool" look. Most people, sometimes 4-5 on a weekend, which I still can't get over, just say how nice the car looks and never have I had one ask is it the ss or lt which shows most people either don't know or probably don't really care much. One I heard next to me in traffic say to his wife "thats a nice looking camaro!" Others take videos and camera shots going down the freeway!!

I would say V8. You get the sound the performance. People ask me all the time what engine you have. And I know with guys they always look at you funny when you say I got the v6. answer is always oh ok. not sweet
Granted I am into performance. The V8 wasnt fast enough for me I had to make it faster..
I would hate to have a Camaro and lose to a stock 4cylinder

I drove SS in snow. Day I picked car up it was snowing. Drove 55miles home in the snow. I live in upstate NY bought the car in NJ. Stock tires arent the best in the snow but you can make it through the snow fine
