Finally... A harness bar for the Camaro. I just ordered mine..

I know some of you folks might want one as well. They are $50.00 off for a limited time for Camaro5 members. Here's the link:

So much good stuff that I have missed this last week!! I took a few days off and went fishing up in Canada. No phones, tv or computers. It was a nice get away My half shafts came back from the DSS and I am still waiting on the rear end from RPM/LPE, I can't wait to get her back together and on the road!!

Congrats on the build and your runs Paul. It is nice to see the Hot Rod write up. That thing is awesome!!

570 - Nice videos!! Looks like you are having a lot of fun

It sounds like RS and 2010 are having a good time at the track as well. Hopefully everyone is having a good summer

Hi Brothers and Sisters - got a tire question for you. I see some of you are running NT05 (street) and I think a few are running NT05R (drag radial). I'm looking at widening the rears to 10.5" or 10.75" and running 315s.

Question is - have any of you taken your NT05 or NT05R to the road course AND the drag strip? If so, what are your impressions? Like every other dreamer out there I want good strip launches and still want to turn well, but with a bit more emphasis on strip.

My situation here in Reno is that we have a couple 1/4 mile strips within an hour and a 4-mile road course within a half hour. Problem is the road course is closed (financial problems) and no others close so for a while I'll be doing mainly drag. But I can see (pray for) the day it reopens. I'm taking the Ron Fellows Corvette Driving School in Pahrump NV (Spring Mounting ... 3 days in a Z06 w/ Ron teaching! Woohoo!!) in October and I think after that I'll officially have the road bug. Sooooo, I don't want to go TOO far either way with it right now but just know regardless I need a whole lot more sticky with this LPE650 and 4.10 rearend!

BTW, I realize I'm behind on chassis work :-). I'm talking to some Brothers and Sisters about recommendations there and plan to at least stiffen the heck out of the rear to get rid of hop and possibly lowering springs. My oh my, the list never ends, does it??

No drag radial will be as good on the street, but no street tire will be as good as a drag radial. The NT05 is a great street / track tire. You'll find many in the LPE Brotherhood have opted for several sets of tires because they do not want to compromise performance.

I would be willing to address your hop condition if you would be willing to explain it a bit. Are you talking about wheel hop at launch or a hop over a bump in the road.

Thanks Pete - I'm referring to wheel hop at launch. It hops a bit right now with the stock Pirelli 275s. I know this will get significantly worse with wider, stickier tires. The car seems to handle great on the road so far (I have pushed it pretty hard on some open windy mountain roads), feels very settled all the time.

Your RWHP and mine are about the same so I have a good idea what your car is like. Depending on where you plan to take your car I would start with suspension basics. Our EP1200 sub-frame inserts will settle down your IRS. That combined with your launch technique could be all you need or want. Starting with the foundation is always the best way. You can add, control arm and differential bushes for maximum traction and then move on to coilovers or springs. The EP1200s can be installed on your driveway in an afternoon and much faster on a rack.

Until you either perfect a wheel hop free launch or get your wheels, tires and suspension dialed in be careful with your wheel hop. A little bit is no big deal. A lot can tear up your LPE Camaro. If you can't drive through it be sure to back off before it gets out of control.

Pete - Agreed, I didn't want to start throwing all sorts of chassis mods at it until I had an understanding of what I really needed. I prefer a "start with the basics" approach, and add as necessary to completely solve the problem or solve new problems as I encounter different driving conditions. So I'm glad you like the same approach.

About the wheel hop - thankfully it is quite mild right now. I wanted to make mods before the wider/stickier tires for fear that I would break something. I definitely need to practice my launch too! Not a bad way to spend some Saturday afternoons, haha!

If you wouldn't mind, please PM me price/availability of the EP1200. Thanks!

I hope I was nice to them.

The cruise is a charity event. Scott Flavin was a Grand haven Michigan police officer killed in the line of duty. The people come out and donate to drive in the cruise. All of the money is used for scholarships dedicated to Scott's memory and students pursuing law enforcement degrees. We had a great turnout with more than 120 cars.
